1. What do you know about Nutanix?

Example: “Nutanix is a virtualized datacenter infrastructure solution that allows businesses to consolidate servers, storage and networking into one scalable unit. This makes it easier to manage IT resources and provides more efficient use of space. The company was founded in 2009 by Dheeraj Pandey, who wanted to create a new type of enterprise server that would be easy to deploy and maintain. He developed the first iteration of Nutanix with his team at Stanford University.”

2. Tell me about a time when you had to work in an environment that was not ideal and how did you handle it?

When answering this question, it can be beneficial to highlight your problem-solving skills and ability to adapt.

Example: “I once worked in a small office where I shared a desk with another employee. This was not ideal because we both had our own work to do but also needed to share the same workspace. To solve this issue, I would take my lunch break at different times than my coworker so that I could have the space to myself for an hour each day. It wasn’t ideal, but it allowed me to get my work done without disrupting anyone else.”

3. What is your experience with developing web applications?

Web applications are a major component of the Nutanix platform. Your answer should demonstrate your experience with web application development and how it relates to the role you’re interviewing for.

Example: “I have extensive experience developing web applications using Java, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3 and other front-end technologies. I also have experience working with back-end frameworks like Spring Boot, JPA and Hibernate. These skills will be beneficial in my work as a developer on the Nutanix team.”

4. Do you have any experience working on distributed systems?

This question is a great way to determine if you have the necessary skills and experience for the role. If you don’t, it’s important to explain what your experience with distributed systems is and how it relates to Nutanix.

Example: “I’ve worked on several different types of distributed systems in my career, including grid computing, peer-to-peer networks and client-server models. I would work closely with the team to ensure all aspects of the software are accounted for.”

6. Why are you interested in Nutanix?

This question is a great way for the interviewer to learn more about your background and how you came across Nutanix. It’s important to show that you have done research on the company, its products and services and why you are interested in working there.

Example: “I am very passionate about technology and I’ve been following Nutanix since it launched. I love the idea of being able to create an enterprise-level solution that can be used by businesses of all sizes. I also like the fact that Nutanix offers solutions for both small and large businesses.”

7. Have you ever worked in a team-oriented setting before?

Teamwork is an essential skill for any Nutanix engineer. Your interviewer will want to know that you have experience working in a team and collaborating with others on projects.

Example: “I’ve worked in a team-oriented setting before, but I prefer to work independently. However, I understand the importance of teamwork and collaboration when it comes to solving complex problems. In my previous role as a senior engineer at Acme Corp., I was part of a five-person engineering team tasked with developing a new application for the company’s website. We all had different strengths and weaknesses, so we were able to collaborate effectively and solve complex issues together.”

8. How would you describe yourself as a developer and engineer?

9. Describe a time where you dealt with conflict in the workplace, how did you handle it?

Example: “In my previous role as a database administrator, I had a coworker who was constantly late for work. This caused them to miss important meetings and deadlines that could have negatively impacted the company’s revenue. 10. We want our engineers to be able to work independently, do you feel like you would fit into that type of environment well?

This question is a great way to see if you are able to work independently and how much experience you have with independent projects. When answering this question, it can be helpful to mention any past experiences working independently or the skills that make you feel confident in your ability to do so.

Example: “I am very comfortable working independently, as I’ve done so for most of my career. In fact, I find it quite enjoyable to work on complex problems without having to wait for others to finish their tasks before moving forward.”

11. What is your current salary and benefits package?

This question is a common one in interviews, and it’s important to be honest. If you’re currently making more than the job posting, explain why you are looking for a new opportunity.

Example: “I am currently making $50,000 per year with full benefits. I’m looking for a new opportunity because my current employer has not been able to offer me a raise in two years, and I feel that I deserve one. I have consistently exceeded expectations at work, and I would love to do so here.”

12. What does your previous manager think of your performance at work?

14. What do you consider to be your greatest achievement?

When answering, try to choose an achievement that relates to the job description or one that shows you have the right skills for this position.

Example: “My greatest professional accomplishment was when I became a Nutanix Certified Professional (NCP) last year. This certification required me to pass three exams on different aspects of the platform. To prepare, I studied for several hours each week for six months. In the end, I passed all three exams with high marks and earned my NCP certification.”

15. Which area of engineering are you most experienced in?

This question is a great way to show the interviewer your skills and experience. It’s also an opportunity for you to explain how those skills can be applied to this role. If you have previous experience in IT, consider highlighting some of your technical abilities. If you’re more experienced in business operations, highlight your ability to work with teams and develop strategies.

Example: “I’ve worked as a software engineer for five years now. I’m very familiar with coding languages and development processes. In my last position, I was responsible for creating new features and maintaining existing ones.”

16. What has been your most challenging programming project so far?

This question can help the interviewer get a better understanding of your problem-solving skills and how you overcame challenges in the past. When answering this question, it can be helpful to describe a time when you had to overcome a challenge while working on a project and what steps you took to solve the issue.

Example: “My most challenging programming project so far was when I worked with a client who needed an enterprise solution for their company’s database. The system they were using at the time wasn’t able to handle all of the data that the company was collecting, which caused some issues. We decided to use Nutanix as our virtualized datacenter platform because it could provide the scalability and flexibility we needed to create a more efficient database.”

17. How would you go about finding new clients for Nutanix?

19. Give us an example of a time when you were dealing with a client who was upset by something we had done, how did you handle it?
