OnTrac Interview Process

The interview process at OnTrac is generally quick and easy. For most positions, you will simply have a phone interview followed by a tour of the facility. For some positions, you may be asked to take a skills test or participate in a side-by-side interview. Overall, the experience is professional and straightforward.

1. Do you have previous experience working in a warehouse environment?

OnTrac is a logistics company that specializes in regional shipping. The interviewer may ask this question to learn more about your experience working in a warehouse environment and how it relates to the job you’re applying for. Use your answer to explain why you are qualified for the position and highlight any relevant skills or experiences you have that can help you succeed in this role.

Example: “I worked as a forklift operator at my previous job, so I am familiar with operating machinery and moving large objects around a warehouse. This skill set makes me well-suited for this position because I understand what it takes to move freight efficiently through a warehouse.”

2. What would you do if a package was labeled incorrectly?

OnTrac employees must be able to identify and correct errors in shipping labels. This question helps the interviewer assess your problem-solving skills, attention to detail and ability to work independently. In your answer, demonstrate that you can use critical thinking skills to solve problems and make decisions.

Example: “If a package was labeled incorrectly, I would first try to contact the shipper or receiver to see if they could provide additional information about the shipment. If not, I would open the package and inspect its contents to determine what it should have been shipped as. Then, I would repackage the item and ship it to the correct address.”

3. Are you comfortable lifting heavy packages?

OnTrac employees often lift heavy packages, so the interviewer wants to make sure you’re physically capable of doing this. If you have any physical limitations that might prevent you from lifting heavy objects, be honest and explain what types of tasks you can perform instead.

Example: “I am comfortable lifting heavy packages as long as they are within my weight capacity. I’ve worked in warehouses before where we had to lift boxes up to 50 pounds, so I’m used to it. However, if there is a more efficient way to load or unload trucks, I would prefer to do that.”

4. Why do you want to work at OnTrac?

This question can help the interviewer determine if you have done your research on the company. It is important to show that you are genuinely interested in working for OnTrac and not just applying because it was the first job you saw advertised.

Example: “I want to work at OnTrac because I am passionate about logistics, and I think this company has a lot of potential. I read through the job description and noticed that there were many opportunities for growth within the company. I also like how transparent the company seems to be with its employees.”

5. Tell me about a time that you had to deal with an irate customer, how did you handle it?

OnTrac is a company that deals with customers on a daily basis. It’s important to show the interviewer that you can handle difficult situations and remain calm in order to maintain customer satisfaction.

Example: “I had an irate customer once who called me because they were upset about their delivery time. I listened to what they had to say, apologized for any inconvenience and explained our shipping policies to them. They seemed satisfied with my response and thanked me for my help.”

6. How would you respond when asked for your opinion on company policies or procedures?

This question can help the interviewer assess your willingness to speak up when you disagree with a company’s policies or procedures. It also helps them understand how you might contribute to improving existing processes and making improvements within the organization.

Example: “I would first make sure I understood all of the reasons behind the policy or procedure, then I would share my thoughts on whether it was working as intended or if there were ways we could improve it. If I felt strongly that the policy or procedure needed to be changed, I would offer suggestions for improvement.”

7. Tell me about the last time a manager criticized your work, how did you react?

This question can help the interviewer understand how you respond to constructive criticism and whether you’re open to feedback. When answering, it can be helpful to mention a specific example of when you received constructive criticism from a manager and what steps you took to improve your work or performance.

Example: “When I first started working as a driver for OnTrac, my supervisor noticed that I was consistently arriving late to deliveries. He explained that this could lead to customer dissatisfaction and affect our company’s reputation. After hearing his advice, I made sure to arrive on time to every delivery for the rest of the week. By following his advice, I improved my punctuality and helped ensure customers were happy with their deliveries.”

8. If a customer complained about lost items, what would you do?

This question can help the interviewer assess your customer service skills and how you would handle a challenging situation. Use examples from previous experience to show that you are willing to go above and beyond for customers.

Example: “I would first apologize to the customer and ask them what they lost. I would then contact my manager to see if there was any way we could find the missing items. If not, I would offer the customer a discount on their next shipment or arrange for free shipping. This shows the customer that I am committed to providing excellent customer service.”

9. What is one thing you would change about our delivery service and why?

This question is a great way to see how you can improve processes and procedures. It also shows that the interviewer wants to know your opinion on things, which can be an important part of working in a team environment. When answering this question, it’s best to focus on one specific thing and explain why you would change it.

Example: “When I was working as a shipping clerk at a local delivery service, I had a customer who needed their package delivered by noon on Christmas Eve. The driver was already out delivering other packages, so I volunteered to deliver the package myself. It took me an hour longer than usual to get there, but I made sure they got their package before Christmas.”

13. Are you able to work weekends?

OnTrac is a 24/7 operation, and the interviewer wants to know if you’re willing to work weekends. This question also helps them determine your availability for overtime or shift work. When answering this question, be honest about your willingness to work weekends. If you prefer not to work weekends, explain why in your answer.

Example: “I am able to work weekends, however, I would prefer not to. My family is very important to me, so I would only work weekends when absolutely necessary. In my previous position, I was often asked to work weekends, but I always made sure to let my employer know ahead of time that I preferred not to work on Saturdays and Sundays.”

I would make sure that all team members know how important it is to communicate with customers when there’s a problem or delay in delivery. Another way we could improve customer satisfaction is by offering more transparency about shipping times and costs. Customers should be able to easily see these details before they place an order.”

17. What’s your favorite part of customer service?

This question can help the interviewer get to know you as a person and how you approach your work. Your answer should reflect your personality, skills and interests.

Example: “My favorite part of customer service is helping customers solve problems. I enjoy using my problem-solving skills to find solutions for people who are having issues with their shipments or deliveries. It’s rewarding to see someone leave happy after getting answers to their questions.”

18. At OnTrac we value punctuality, what steps do you take to ensure that you arrive on time to work?

This question can help the interviewer determine how you manage your time and if you have any experience with a similar company. Showcase your ability to be on time by explaining what steps you take to ensure that you arrive at work early.

If you do have a minor infraction, explain what happened and how it has helped you become a better driver.
