How to Write a Pet Sitter Resume

Here’s how to write a pet sitter resume of your own.

Write Compelling Bullet Points

Bullet points are the most effective way to showcase your experience and qualifications. But rather than simply listing your responsibilities, you can make your bullet points much more interesting and compelling by using specific examples and numbers.

For example, rather than saying you “provided care for pets,” you could say you “provided care for 10 dogs and cats in a busy animal shelter, ensuring all animals were fed, watered, and exercised according to schedule.”

The second bullet point is much more specific and provides a clear picture of what you did and the results of your work.

Identify and Include Relevant Keywords

When you apply for a pet sitter role, your resume is likely to go through an applicant tracking system (ATS). This system will scan your resume for specific keywords related to the job. If you don’t have enough relevant keywords on your resume, the ATS might not rank your application as highly as an applicant with the right qualifications.

To make sure your resume makes it past the ATS, focus on including relevant keywords throughout all sections of your resume. Here are some examples:

  • Pet Sitting
  • Pet Care
  • Animal Care
  • Dog Training
  • Dog Walking
  • Animals
  • Dog Grooming
  • Veterinary Medicine
  • Basic First Aid
  • Pet Supplies
  • Dog Grooming Services
