How to Write a Power Plant Operator Resume

Here’s how to write a power plant operator resume of your own.

Write Compelling Bullet Points

When you’re writing bullet points, it can be tempting to focus on the responsibilities of your job. But that’s not always the most effective approach. Instead, you can use your bullet points to highlight your achievements and showcase your skills.

For example, rather than saying you “operated power plant equipment,” you could say you “increased plant production by 15% during summer heat wave, reducing energy costs by $2 million over six-month period.”

The second bullet point paints a much clearer picture of what you did and the results of your work. And it provides a quantifiable result (15% increase in production over six months).

Showcase Your Technical Skills

Power plant operators need to be proficient in a variety of software programs and systems in order to do their job effectively. Some of the most commonly used programs are CMMS software (like SAP and Maximo), SCADA systems, and data acquisition software. Operators also need to be familiar with the various types of equipment used in power plants, as well as the different types of fuels that are used.

If you have experience with any of these programs or systems, be sure to list them on your resume. And if you’re not familiar with them, now is the time to learn them!
