For instance, if I were explaining the term ‘cholesterol,’ I would first ask them what they know about cholesterol. Then, I would explain that cholesterol is a type of fat found in our blood. This allows me to break down complex terms into more understandable pieces.”

5. Describe a time where you worked on a team and were able to come up with an innovative solution to a problem.

Teamwork is an important skill to have in the healthcare industry. When answering this question, it can be helpful to highlight your ability to work with others and come up with solutions that benefit everyone involved.

6. Do you have any previous experience working with electronic health records?

The interviewer may ask this question to learn more about your experience with EHRs and how you’ve used them in the past. If you have previous experience, share a specific example of how you used it effectively. If you don’t have any experience working with electronic health records, explain that you’re willing to learn and develop new skills.

Example: “I worked as an office manager for a small medical practice where we used an EHR system. I was responsible for managing patient appointments, scheduling doctors’ time and ensuring all staff members had access to the system. This helped me understand how important it is to use technology to improve efficiency and provide better care.”

7. What certifications do you hold as a nurse?

Interviewers may ask this question to learn more about your qualifications and experience as a nurse. They want to know if you have any certifications that are relevant to the position, such as those from the American Nurses Association or other organizations. You can also mention any additional training you’ve completed in nursing school or on the job.

Example: “I am currently certified as an adult health-care nurse practitioner by the National Certification Board for Adult Health-Care Nurse Practitioners. I also hold certification in advanced cardiac life support and neonatal resuscitation.”

8. Provide an example of a time when you had to provide feedback to someone on your team that was not positive, how did you approach the situation?

When working in a healthcare environment, it’s important to be able to provide constructive feedback. This question allows the interviewer to assess your ability to do so and how you would handle delivering negative feedback to someone on their team.

Example: “I had an employee who was consistently late for work. I approached them privately and explained that while I understood they were having some personal issues, being late could affect patient care. 9. If hired, what type of environment do you prefer to work in?

Employers ask this question to make sure you are a good fit for their company culture. They want employees who will be happy and productive in their workplace. Before your interview, read through the organization’s website or social media pages to get an idea of what their work environment is like. Think about how your personality would fit into that type of setting.

Example: “I am someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment with lots of opportunities for growth. I love being part of a team where everyone supports each other and works together toward a common goal. Prisma Health seems like a great place to do that.”

10. On a typical day, how many patients would you expect to see?

This question can help the interviewer get a better idea of your experience level and how you might fit in with their organization. Your answer should include details about what you do on a daily basis, including any specific tasks or procedures that you perform.

Example: “In my current role as a registered nurse, I see anywhere from 20 to 30 patients per day. This includes checking vital signs, administering medications and performing physical examinations. I also spend time talking with patients about their concerns and answering questions.”

11. What sort of tasks would you be doing on a daily basis?

This question is a great way to learn more about the responsibilities of this role. When answering, it can be helpful to list out your daily tasks and how you would complete them.

Example: “I would start my day by checking in with my supervisor to see if there were any new assignments or projects I needed to work on. Then, I would check my email for any messages from patients or other healthcare professionals that needed immediate attention. Next, I would review all patient records to ensure they are up-to-date and accurate. Finally, I would begin working on any assigned tasks.”

12. Describe your knowledge regarding HIPAA compliance and privacy regulations.

HIPAA compliance is a vital part of working in healthcare, and employers want to ensure you understand the regulations. HIPA stands for Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, which was enacted by Congress in 1996. It protects patients’ privacy when their medical records are shared between providers or insurance companies.

Example: “I am very familiar with HIPAA regulations because I worked at a hospital that had strict policies regarding patient privacy. I know how important it is to keep information confidential and would never share any private details about a patient’s health without their permission.”

13. Are you comfortable multitasking, managing multiple projects at once?

Prisma Health is a large organization that requires employees to multitask and manage multiple projects at once. Your answer should show the interviewer you are capable of handling this type of work environment.

14. What type of computer skills do you have? Would you consider yourself proficient?

I’m also highly motivated and driven to succeed, so I always make sure to complete all of my tasks before the end of the day. My only weakness is that sometimes I get overwhelmed by large projects or assignments. To overcome this, I break down larger projects into smaller ones.”

17. Tell me about a time when you went above and beyond for a customer or a patient.

This question can help the interviewer get a better idea of your customer service skills and how you handle challenging situations. When answering this question, it can be helpful to give an example that shows your ability to work well with others and solve problems.

Example: “When I worked at my previous job, we had a patient who was having trouble getting in touch with us when they needed assistance. They would call multiple times per day, which made it difficult for our staff to answer all their questions or provide them with the care they needed. After talking with them about the issue, I realized that they were just nervous about being in the hospital and wanted someone to talk to them throughout the day. So, I volunteered to take on some of their calls so that other nurses could focus on their patients.”

18. Do you have any special training?

Interviewers may ask this question to see if you have any additional training that would be beneficial for the role. If you do, explain what it is and how it has helped you in your career.

Example: “I am a certified medical assistant with an associate’s degree in medical assisting from Prisma Health University. This certification gave me the skills I needed to work as a medical assistant and learn more about the healthcare industry. It also allowed me to get my foot in the door at Prisma Health.”

19. What types of insurance plans are you familiar with?

Prisma Health offers a variety of insurance plans, and the interviewer wants to make sure you have experience working with them. If you don’t have direct experience, explain what types of insurance plans you’re familiar with and how you would learn about Prisma’s specific offerings.

Example: “I’ve worked in healthcare for five years now, and I’m very familiar with all major insurance providers. 20. How many years of nursing experience do you have?
