How to Write a Public Health Inspector Resume

Write Compelling Bullet Points

When you’re writing bullet points, it can be tempting to focus on the responsibilities of your job. But that’s not enough to make a compelling resume. Instead, you should focus on the results of your work.

For example, rather than saying you “conducted inspections of food service establishments,” you could say that you “conducted inspections of food service establishments in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations, resulting in zero violations during 2018 inspections.”

The second bullet point paints a clear picture of what you did and the outcome of your work. It also provides a specific number to demonstrate your level of involvement.

Identify and Include Relevant Keywords

When you submit your resume online, it’s likely that it will be scanned by an applicant tracking system (ATS) for certain keywords. These programs look for certain terms related to the job opening in order to determine whether or not you are a good fit. If your resume doesn’t have enough of the right keywords, your application might not make it past the initial screening process.
