For example, rather than saying you “managed QHSE department,” you could say that you “led QHSE department to achieve ISO 9001 certification in six months, reducing risk of noncompliance by 50% and saving company $1 million in potential fines.”
Notice how the second bullet point is much more specific and provides more detail about what exactly you did and the results of your work.
When you submit your resume for a QHSE manager role, it’s likely that it will be screened by an applicant tracking system (ATS) for certain keywords. This program looks for certain terms related to the job, like “safety” and “quality management,” in order to determine whether your skills and experience are a match for the job opening. If your resume doesn’t include enough relevant keywords, the ATS might reject your application.
