A real estate agent is always on the go, helping clients buy and sell homes and assisting companies in finding office and industrial spaces to buy or lease. Before getting into the real estate business, an agent needs to be affiliated with a broker, also known as a real estate agency.

After fulfilling the requirements to become a licensed real estate agent, how do you become part of an agency? What are some of the most important qualities for a successful real estate agent?

Example: “I believe some of the most important qualities for a real estate agent are communication skills, problem-solving abilities and creativity. How do you build trust with your clients?

How well do you know the local area?

You can also mention any personal experiences that make you more knowledgeable about the area.

Example: “I grew up in this neighborhood, so I know it very well. In fact, my parents still live here, so I visit often. There are several great public schools in the area, including one right down the street from this property. The neighborhood is close to a major highway, which makes commuting easy. There’s also a grocery store within walking distance.”

Do you have any experience with virtual tours?

Virtual tours are a common tool used by real estate agents to showcase properties online. This question helps employers determine if you have experience with this technology and how comfortable you are using it. In your answer, share what virtual tour software you’ve used in the past and explain why you prefer that platform over others.

Describe your writing and communication skills.

What do you think is the most important aspect of customer service?

Customer service is an important part of being a real estate agent. The interviewer may ask this question to see how you prioritize customer service in your work. Use your answer to highlight the importance of listening to clients, providing accurate information and maintaining good communication with others.

Example: “I think that the most important aspect of customer service is making sure that I am always available for my clients. When I’m working with someone, it’s my job to make them feel comfortable and help them understand all of their options. To do this, I need to be readily available by phone or email so they can reach me at any time. I also think it’s important to provide accurate information about homes and neighborhoods so that clients know what to expect when looking at houses.”

How often do you update your knowledge of the real estate industry?
