How to Write a Real Estate Asset Manager Resume

Here’s how to write a resume of your own.

Write Compelling Bullet Points

When you’re writing bullet points, it can be tempting to simply list your responsibilities. But that’s not enough to make a strong impression. Instead, you should use your bullet points to demonstrate your value by showing how you contributed to the organization.

For example, rather than saying you “managed property inventory,” you could say that you “managed property inventory for 200+ units, reducing vacancy rate from 10% to 5% in first year.”

The second bullet point paints a much clearer picture of what you did and the results of your work. And it also provides a specific number to demonstrate your impact.

Identify and Include Relevant Keywords

When you apply for a role as an asset manager, your resume is likely to go through an applicant tracking system (ATS). This program will scan your resume for specific keywords related to the job opening. If your resume doesn’t include enough of the right terms, the ATS might not rank it highly enough for a recruiter to see it.

To increase your chances of getting an interview, make sure you include relevant keywords in all sections of your resume. Here are some common real estate asset manager keywords to get you started:

  • Asset Management
  • Real Estate
  • Real Estate Transactions
  • Investment Properties
  • Real Estate Development
  • Commercial Real Estate
  • Property Management
  • Residential Real Estate
  • Real Estate Economics
  • Working with Investors
  • Real Estate Economics Analysis
  • Lease Administration
  • Working with Tenants
  • Due Diligence
  • Negotiation
  • Investment Management
  • Contract Negotiation
  • Valuation
  • Portfolio Management
  • Single Family Homes
  • Corporate Real Estate
  • Energy
  • Contract Management
  • Energy Management
  • Property Claims
  • Loss Control
  • Construction
  • Risk Management
  • Claim Management

Showcase Your Technical Skills

As a real estate asset manager, you will need to be proficient in the use of various software programs in order to do your job effectively. These programs will allow you to track and manage your portfolio of properties, as well as communicate with tenants, landlords, and other members of the real estate team.

Some of the most commonly used programs and systems include: property management software, accounting software, customer relationship management (CRM) software, and real estate market analysis software.
