How to Write a Recruiter Resume

Here’s how to write a recruiter resume of your own.

Write Compelling Bullet Points

Bullet points are the most important part of your resume because they’re the first thing recruiters will read. And if they’re not compelling, you’ll lose the chance to make a lasting impression.

So it’s crucial to use bullet points to showcase your experience, skills, and accomplishments. And the best way to do that is by using specific details and numbers. For example, rather than saying you “managed recruiting process for large-scale hiring initiative,” you could say you “managed recruiting process for large-scale hiring initiative, resulting in hiring of 200+ new employees in six months.”

The second bullet point is much more powerful because it provides specific details about the project and the outcome.

Identify and Include Relevant Keywords

Applicant tracking systems (ATS) are used by many companies to manage the flow of resumes. These systems scan resumes for specific keywords related to the job opening. If your resume doesn’t have enough of the right keywords, the ATS might automatically reject your application.

One way to make sure your resume makes it past the ATS is to include relevant keywords throughout all sections of your resume. Here are some commonly used recruiter keywords:

  • Recruiting
  • Human Resources (HR)
  • Sourcing
  • Interviewing
  • Recruitment Advertising
  • Technical Recruiting
  • Internet Recruiting
  • Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS)
  • Onboarding
  • Screening
  • Teaching
  • Talent Management
  • Screening Resumes
  • Applicant Tracking Systems
  • HR Management
  • Hiring
  • Employee Relations
  • Employee Engagement
  • Employee Training
  • Full-life Cycle Recruiting
  • Staffing Services
  • Screening Resumes
  • Benefits Negotiation
  • Contract Recruitment
  • Negotiation
  • Team Building
  • Employer Branding
  • Employee Benefits Design
  • Business Strategy
  • Customer Service

Showcase Your Technical Skills

Recruiters use a variety of software programs and databases to find candidates for open positions. They also use technology to Screen resumes, track interactions with candidates, and manage the hiring process. So it’s important for recruiters to be familiar with a variety of programs and systems.

Some of the programs that recruiters are typically expected to be proficient in include: ATS software, CRM software, social media platforms, and email marketing platforms. Additionally, recruiters should be familiar with best practices for using technology in the recruiting process.
