How to Write a Relationship Manager Resume

Here’s how to write a relationship manager resume of your own.

Write Compelling Bullet Points

Bullet points are the most effective way to showcase your experience and qualifications. But rather than simply listing your responsibilities, you can make your bullet points much more interesting and compelling by using them to tell a story about your work.

For example, rather than saying you “managed relationships with clients,” you could say that you “increased client retention rate by 15% by developing new referral partnerships with local businesses and implementing new customer retention strategies.”

The second bullet point is much more interesting and provides a lot more detail about what exactly you did and the results of your work.

Identify and Include Relevant Keywords

Applicant tracking systems (ATS) are used by many companies to manage the recruiting process. ATS programs scan resumes for specific job-related terms, like “relationship building” or “client retention.” If your resume doesn’t include enough relevant keywords, the ATS might filter out your application.

The best way to make sure your resume makes it past the ATS is to include relevant keywords throughout all sections of your resume. You can find a list of common relationship manager keywords below:

  • Banking
  • Credit
  • Loans
  • Commercial Banking
  • Retail Banking
  • Financial Services
  • Portfolio Management
  • Credit Analysis
  • Consumer Lending
  • Finance
  • Risk Management
  • Financial Analysis
  • Commercial Lending
  • Commercial Banking Relationship Management
  • Retail Banking Relationship Management
  • Credit Risk
  • Mortgage Lending
  • Small Business Lending
  • Asset Management
  • Capital Markets
  • Corporate Finance
  • Investment Banking
  • Relationship Building
  • Business Relationship Management
  • Underwriting
  • Financial Markets
  • Securities
  • Risk Assessment
  • Business Development
  • Investment Management

Showcase Your Technical Skills

Just as with any other profession, technology is becoming increasingly important in the world of relationship management. Relationship managers need to be proficient in the use of CRM software, email marketing software, and social media platforms. Additionally, they should be well-versed in the principles of digital marketing, and understand how to use data to drive their marketing efforts.

So if you have experience with any of these programs or platforms, be sure to list them on your resume. And if you’re not familiar with them, now is the time to learn them!
