How to Write a School Operations Manager Resume

Here’s how to write a resume of your own.

Write Compelling Bullet Points

When you’re writing bullet points, it can be tempting to simply list your responsibilities. But that’s not enough to make a strong impression. Instead, you should use your bullet points to demonstrate your value by showing how you contributed to the organization.

For example, rather than saying you “managed cafeteria staff,” you could say that you “increased cafeteria revenue by 15% in first year through improved menu planning and increased customer service training for staff.”

The second bullet point paints a much clearer picture of what you did and the results of your work. And it also provides a specific number to demonstrate the impact of your work.

Identify and Include Relevant Keywords

Chances are that when you submit your resume for an operations manager role, it will be screened by an applicant tracking system (ATS) that looks for certain keywords related to the position. If your resume doesn’t include enough of the right keywords, your application might not make it past the initial screening process.

The best way to make sure your resume includes the right keywords is to read through job postings and take note of the terms that are used most frequently. Then, use those same terms on your resume. Here are some common operations manager keywords to get you started:

  • Operations Management
  • Curriculum Development
  • Teaching
  • Education Management
  • Teaching Philosophy
  • Educational Leadership
  • Lesson Planning
  • Program Development
  • Public Speaking
  • Staff Development
  • Educational Technology

  • Student Engagement
  • School Management
  • Teacher Training
  • Classroom Instruction
  • K-12 Education

  • Staff Management
  • Nonprofit Organizations

Showcase Your Technical Skills

As a school operations manager, you will need to be proficient in a variety of software programs and systems in order to effectively manage the day-to-day operations of a school. This might include programs like Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and various student information systems. Additionally, you will need to be familiar with the various types of technology used in schools, such as classroom management software, online learning platforms, and student assessment tools.
