How to Write a Social Media Intern Resume

Here’s how to write a social media intern resume of your own.

Write Compelling Bullet Points

When it comes to writing bullet points, the more specific you can be, the better. Rather than saying you “managed social media accounts,” you could say that you “managed Twitter account for top fashion brand, increasing followers by 20% in six months.”

The second bullet point is much stronger because it provides specific details about what you did and the results of your work.

Identify and Include Relevant Keywords

When you apply for a social media intern role, your resume goes through an applicant tracking system (ATS). This program will search for certain keywords related to the job in order to determine whether or not you have the skills and experience they are looking for. If your resume doesn’t include enough of the right keywords, your application might not make it past the initial screening process.

The best way to make sure you have the right keywords on your resume is to carefully read through each job posting and take note of the terms that are used most frequently. Then, use those same terms when you’re writing your resume. Here are some commonly used social media intern keywords:

  • Social Media
  • Editing
  • Blogging
  • Photography
  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Writing
  • Marketing
  • Digital Marketing
  • Adobe InDesign
  • Social Media Marketing
  • Facebook
  • Event Planning
  • Public Relations
  • Marketing Strategy
  • Video Editing
  • Adobe Creative Suite
  • Photography Editing
  • Facebook Marketing
  • Research
  • Social Media Communications
  • Content Strategy
  • Digital Media
  • Facebook Ads
  • Twitter
  • Digital Media Marketing
  • Social Media Optimization (SMO)
  • Google Analytics
  • Writing for the Web
  • Copywriting
  • Video Production

Showcase Your Technical Skills

As a social media intern, you are responsible for managing the social media accounts for your company. This includes creating and publishing content, interacting with followers, and monitoring analytics. You’ll also need to be familiar with different social media platforms, like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn. So be sure to list any platforms that you are familiar with in your technical skills section. Additionally, you should list any other programs or systems that you are familiar with that are relevant to your field.
