How to Write a STEM Teacher Resume

Here’s how to write a resume of your own.

Write Compelling Bullet Points

Bullet points are the most important part of your resume because they’re the first thing recruiters will read. And if they’re not compelling, you’ll lose the chance to make a lasting impression.

The key is to use bullet points to tell a story about your experience and skills. And the best way to do that is by using specific examples and numbers. For example, rather than saying you “taught math classes,” you could say you “taught pre-calculus classes to a class of 35 students, achieving a student retention rate of 95% and a pass rate of 98% on state exams.”

The second bullet point paints a much clearer picture of what you did and the results of your work. And it also provides a specific number to demonstrate your impact.

Identify and Include Relevant Keywords

Most online applications are scanned by an applicant tracking system (ATS) that looks for certain keywords related to the job opening. If your resume doesn’t include enough of the right keywords, your application might not make it past the initial screening process.

To help you get noticed, we’ve put together a list of popular teacher keywords and phrases that you can use in your resume:

Showcase Your Technical Skills

As a STEM teacher, you need to be proficient in a variety of software programs and systems in order to effectively teach your students. This might include programs like TinkerCAD, 3D printers, and coding languages like Scratch and Python. You should also be familiar with the various types of STEM curriculum and how to integrate them into your lesson plans.
