How to Write a Visual Development Artist Resume

Here’s how to write a resume of your own.

Write Compelling Bullet Points

When it comes to visualizing your experience, it’s important to be as specific as possible. Rather than saying you “created visual designs for websites and apps,” you could say that you “created visual designs for 10+ websites and apps, including wireframes, sitemaps, and user flows, using Adobe Illustrator and InDesign.”

The second bullet point is much stronger because it provides specific details about what you did and the tools you used to do it. It also includes a number, which always makes your resume stronger.

Identify and Include Relevant Keywords

When you submit your resume for a visual development artist role, it’s likely that it will be scanned by an applicant tracking system (ATS) for certain keywords. The ATS will search for terms related to the job, like “digital media” or “graphic design.” If your resume doesn’t have enough of the right terms, the ATS might automatically reject your application.

To increase your chances of getting an interview, use this list of common visual development artist keywords as a starting point to help you add relevant terms to your resume:

Additionally, it’s important to be familiar with various file formats, such as .psd, .ai, .jpg, and .mp4.
