Basketball coaches teach amateur or professional athletes the skills they need to succeed at the sport. at all levels of the game, from high school to the NBA. They also develop and implement practice plans, scout for new talent, and give pre-game and post-game speeches.

Before you can start coaching, you’ll need to pass an interview. The questions you’ll be asked will depend on the level of the team you’re applying to coach. For example, if you’re interviewing for a head coaching position with an NBA team, the questions will be very different from those you’d be asked if you were interviewing for a high school coaching job.

1. Are you familiar with the rules of basketball?

5. Provide an example of a time when you had to discipline a player.

Discipline is an important part of coaching. The interviewer wants to know how you handle conflict and ensure your players are following the rules. In your answer, describe a situation where you had to discipline a player and what steps you took to resolve the issue.

Example: “I recently had to discipline a player who was not following team rules. The player in question was consistently late for practice and did not take the game seriously, which was having an adverse effect on the morale of the other players.

9. Do you have any experience coaching youth basketball?

14. Which basketball teams or players do you admire?

15. What do you think is the most important aspect of coaching a basketball team?

17. There is a conflict between two players on the court. How do you handle it?
