Canva Interview Process

The interview process at Canva is extensive, and can take up to two months to complete. It includes four interviews and a take home task that can take over 40 hours to complete. The first round of the interview process is a screening interview with a recruiter, followed by a product review and interview with the product team. The next two rounds are coding and behavioural interviews. If you are successful in these rounds, you will be invited to a senior leadership interview.

1. What is your experience with React and Node?

This question is a great way to gauge your experience with Canva and how you might use it. React and Node are two of the most popular frameworks in web development, so if you have experience using them, explain what they are and why you used them.

2. What are some of the limitations with React router?

Example: “I’ve worked on projects where I had to work with multiple clients before, and my process was to create separate design boards for each client. Each board contained all of the assets needed for their project, including fonts, colors, graphics and more. Then, I would upload these designs into Canva as needed. This allowed me to keep track of which designs were for which client and ensure that they got what they needed.”

5. How do you stay up-to-date with the latest design trends?

Employers want to know that you’re passionate about design and are willing to learn new skills. Show them that you have a desire to grow as a designer by sharing your methods for staying up-to-date with the latest trends in the industry.

Example: “I love learning about new design trends, especially when it comes to color palettes. I follow several interior designers on social media who share their work and provide tips on how to use different colors in home decorating projects. I also subscribe to newsletters from popular design websites so I can get weekly updates on what’s trending.”

6. If you were given more work than you could handle, how would you go about prioritizing tasks?

8. Tell me about one of your recent designs that you feel proud of. Why?

This question is a great way to show your interviewer that you are proud of your work and can take pride in it. It also allows them to see what kind of designs you create, which may help them understand how you would fit into their company culture.

Example: “I recently created an infographic for my friend’s blog about the best places to travel this summer. 13. Talk about a time where you helped improve productivity within your company.

Example: “At my previous job, I noticed that our team was having trouble staying on top of deadlines because we didn’t have an organized system for tracking projects. To solve this problem, I created a project management tool where everyone could input their tasks and due dates. This helped us stay on track with our work and meet all deadlines.”

14. What tools do you use to monitor performance issues?

Monitoring performance issues is an important part of the IT role. The interviewer may ask this question to see if you have experience with monitoring tools and how you use them.
