Comfort Keepers Interview Process

The interview process at Comfort Keepers is generally pretty quick and easy. Most applicants will have a phone screening followed by an in-person interview. The in-person interview is usually pretty laid back, and applicants are typically asked about their experience and availability. Once hired, employees will undergo some basic training before being matched with a client.

Common Comfort Keepers Interview Questions

1. What are your thoughts on having a job where you must drive to different places throughout the day?

Comfort Keepers may require you to drive to different clients’ homes throughout the day. The interviewer wants to know if this is a problem for you and how you would handle it. If you have any concerns about driving, be honest with yourself and the employer about your feelings.

Example: “I am comfortable driving as part of my job. I enjoy being able to see new places while on the road. However, I do understand that there are some people who don’t like driving or find it stressful. For those individuals, I would offer them other transportation options such as public transit or taxi services.”

2. How do you feel about working with people who have different cultural and ethnic backgrounds than you?

Comfort Keepers wants to know that you’re open-minded and accepting of people who have different backgrounds than you. This is especially important if your client has a specific cultural background, such as Hispanic or Asian. Your answer should show the interviewer that you can respect their culture and work with them in an effective way.

Example: “I’ve worked with many clients from different ethnic backgrounds, and I feel it’s my responsibility to learn about their cultures and how they prefer to be treated. For example, when working with a Hispanic family, I learned that they like to greet each other with a kiss on the cheek. Now, I always make sure to greet them this way so they feel comfortable.”

3. Do you consider yourself patient? Provide an example of when it was tested.

Comfort Keepers wants to know if you have the ability to work with clients who may be experiencing a challenging time. Your answer should show that you can remain calm and focused on your client’s needs, even when they’re having a hard time.

Example: “I am very patient, especially when it comes to working with seniors. I understand that sometimes my clients are going through a difficult time, so I try to make them feel as comfortable as possible. For example, last week, I was helping an elderly woman get ready for bed. She had trouble putting her pajamas on, so I helped her change into them while she sat in her wheelchair. It took us about 20 minutes, but we got it done.”

4. Would you be comfortable preparing meals for others?

Comfort Keepers wants to know if you have any experience in the kitchen. If you do, they want to see how well you can cook for others. If you don’t have much experience cooking, they want to know what other skills you have that will help you succeed as a comfort keeper.

Example: “I love to cook and I’ve been doing it since I was a child. My mother is an excellent cook and she taught me everything I know about preparing meals. I’m also very organized when I cook, so I always make sure to follow recipes exactly. This helps ensure that my dishes are delicious and healthy.”

5. When have you provided excellent customer service in the past?

Comfort Keepers wants to know that you can provide excellent customer service. This is an important part of the job, and it’s something they will likely test during your interview. When answering this question, think about a time when you provided exceptional customer service. Try to focus on specific details so that the hiring manager knows exactly what you did.

Example: “When I worked at my previous job, I had a client who was very particular about how she liked her home cleaned. 6. Can you tell me about a time when you had a conflict in the workplace, how did you handle it?

When an interviewer asks you this question, they want to know how you resolve conflicts with your coworkers or clients. This is a great opportunity for you to show that you can communicate effectively and work through problems.

Example: “I once had a conflict with my client’s family member while I was providing care services in their home. The family member was very upset with me because she felt like I wasn’t doing enough for her loved one. She started yelling at me and telling me what I should be doing. I calmly told her that I understood where she was coming from but that I would appreciate it if she could lower her voice. Then, I explained the plan of action we had put together as a team and asked her if there were any other concerns she had.”

7. What would you say is your greatest strength and weakness?

This question is a common one in interviews, and it’s important to be honest. Employers want to know what your greatest strengths are so they can use them when you’re on the job. They also want to know about any weaknesses that you’re working on improving or have already improved upon.

Example: “My greatest strength is my ability to connect with people. I am naturally empathetic and compassionate, which makes me good at listening to others and providing emotional support. My weakness would be my perfectionism. While this has helped me achieve many of my goals, it sometimes holds me back from getting started because I want everything to be perfect before I begin.”

8. Have you ever been late or missed work without notice?

In your answer, explain the steps you would take to help the client clean their kitchen while also maintaining their independence.

Example: “I understand that some clients may not want help cleaning their home. I would first ask them if they are comfortable doing it themselves or if they need assistance. If they say they do not want my help, I would respect their wishes and leave the room. However, I would make sure to check in on them throughout the day to see if they needed anything.”

11. What kind of skills can you bring to the company?

Comfort Keepers wants to know what you can bring to the company that will help it succeed. When answering this question, think about your skills and how they relate to the job description. If there are any specific skills listed in the job posting, make sure to mention them.

Example: “I have excellent communication skills, which I believe is an important skill for a caregiver. 12. Are you able to lift 50 pounds?

This is because these tasks can be challenging for some clients and require a high level of attention to detail. 14. Which shift are you available to work?

Comfort Keepers may ask this question to determine which shifts you’re available for. They want to make sure that the applicant is flexible and willing to work any shift they need them to. When answering, be honest about your availability. If you have a specific time of day you prefer to work, explain why in your answer.

Example: “I am available to work any shift. I would prefer to start my day at 8 AM because I find it’s easier to get up early than later in the day. However, if you need me to work a different shift, I can do so.”

15. Describe a time when you were faced with a difficult situation at work, what did you do?

Comfort Keepers wants to know that you can handle challenging situations and learn from them. When answering this question, it’s important to show how you used your problem-solving skills to overcome the challenge and what you learned from it.

16. We ask our employees to keep track of their own mileage. Are you okay with that?

This question is a good way to see if the company has any policies that might be challenging for you. If they ask employees to track their own mileage, it’s likely because they don’t reimburse them for it. It’s important to know this going in so you can decide whether or not you’re okay with it.

Example: “I’m okay with keeping track of my own mileage as long as I get reimbursed at the end of each month.”

17. What are your career goals?

Employers ask this question to learn more about your career goals and aspirations. They want to know that you are motivated and eager to grow in your role as a comfort keeper. When answering this question, it can be helpful to talk about what inspired you to pursue a career in caregiving. You can also mention any specific skills or certifications you hope to achieve in the future.

Example: “I became a comfort keeper because I wanted to help others. My grandmother was always so kind and caring, and she inspired me to become a caregiver. In my previous position, I earned my certification as a CPR instructor. I would love to continue working toward earning additional certifications in the future.”

18. Why should we hire you over another candidate?

Employers ask this question to learn more about your qualifications and how you can benefit their company. Before your interview, make a list of reasons why you are the best candidate for the job. Highlight any skills or experiences that relate to the position.

Example: “I am an excellent communicator who is always willing to help others. I have experience working with seniors in a caregiving role, so I know what it takes to provide quality service. My previous employer told me that I was one of her most reliable employees, which is something I take pride in. I also understand the importance of showing up on time and being prepared for work.”

19. What is one thing you think we could improve upon as a company?

This question is a great way to show your interest in the company and how you can contribute to its success. When answering this question, it’s important to be honest about what you think could improve but also highlight any positive aspects of the company that you’ve noticed.

Example: “I think one thing Comfort Keepers could improve upon is the communication between employees. I have spoken with several caregivers who are looking for more hours or different shifts, and they haven’t heard back from their managers. This seems like an easy fix by creating a system where employees can submit requests online and managers can respond within 24 hours.”

20. Life happens and sometimes emergencies come up. To ensure our clients receive the best possible care, we require our caregivers to provide two weeks’ notice if they decide to quit. Is that something you would be able to commit to?

This question is a great way to determine if the candidate will be able to work with your company’s policies. If they are unable to provide two weeks’ notice, it may indicate that they would not be a good fit for Comfort Keepers.

Example: “I understand that you require your caregivers to give two weeks’ notice when leaving their position. I am committed to providing excellent care and support to my clients, so I would absolutely commit to giving two weeks’ notice should I decide to leave Comfort Keepers.”
