Example: “A legally binding contract must have an offer, acceptance, consideration and intention to create legal relations between two parties. We had to ensure that we included all of the necessary elements of a legally binding contract so that the company could protect its intellectual property rights.”

How would you rate your negotiation skills?

This question can help the interviewer assess your ability to negotiate contracts and agreements. Use examples from past experiences where you successfully negotiated a contract or agreement.

Example: “I have strong negotiation skills, which I developed through my previous role as a contracts officer for a large corporation. When reviewing a contract, what is your process for checking for errors and omissions?

Describe your experience with using contract templates.

This question can help the interviewer determine your experience with using contract templates and how you apply them to contracts. Use examples from past projects where you used contract templates to create a contract, saved time or helped you complete a project on time.

Example: “I have worked in my current position for five years, and I’ve found that using contract templates is an efficient way to streamline the process of creating new contracts. For example, when I started working here, we had no standard contract template library. Instead, each department created their own contracts, which led to inconsistencies between departments.

After I was hired as the contracts officer, I developed a contract template library that all departments could use. This allowed us to ensure our contracts were consistent across the company and reduced the amount of time it took to create new contracts.”

What makes you stand out from other contracts officers we could hire?

How often do you review your contracts for updates and revisions?
