2. What are some of the most important skills for an EMT to have?

10. When transporting a patient, what is your process for ensuring their safety?

12. Describe your experience with using first aid kits.

This question is an opportunity to show your knowledge of the tools and supplies you’ll use as an emt. You can describe a time when you used a first aid kit effectively or explain how you would use one in a given situation.

I am a certified EMT, and as part of my training, I learned how to properly use the contents of a first aid kit in order to provide medical assistance to those in need. 13. What makes you an excellent EMT?

14. Which types of vehicles have you worked with before?

18. Do you have any experience with medical coding?

EMTs often need to know how to code their patients’ injuries and illnesses. 20. Describe a time when you had to make a quick decision in an emergency situation.

Once at the hospital, I continued to provide care until the patient was stabilized. It was a difficult situation but I am proud of the way I handled it. Making quick decisions in emergency situations is something I have become accustomed to over the years as an EMT.”

21. What is your experience with using communication devices such as radios and cell phones?

EMTs often use radios and cell phones to communicate with other emergency personnel. The interviewer wants to know if you have experience using these devices, how well you can follow directions and whether you are able to multitask while communicating.

Example: “I have extensive experience using communication devices such as radios and cell phones in my role as an EMT. I am very familiar with the protocols for radio use, including proper channel selection, transmission etiquette, and emergency codes. I also understand how to properly utilize a two-way radio system when responding to calls.

In addition, I am proficient in using cellular technology to communicate with dispatch centers and other medical personnel. I understand how to send text messages, make phone calls, and access important information quickly on my smartphone. I also know how to troubleshoot any technical issues that may arise while using these devices.”

22. In what ways can you help us improve our patient care services?

23. How would you respond if you were asked to work overtime?

24. Are you comfortable working alone or do you prefer having someone accompanying you?

EMTs often work alone, but they also need to be able to communicate with their team members. This question helps the interviewer determine how you feel about working independently and whether you can effectively communicate with your colleagues.
