FPI Management Interview Process

4. Why do you want to work at FPI Management?

This question is a great way to learn more about how you handle conflict and address unhappy customers. When answering this question, it can be helpful to share an example of when you helped resolve an issue with a resident or customer.

Example: “In my previous role as the property manager for a large apartment complex, I had a situation where one of our residents was very upset because we were having issues with their hot water heater. The resident called me in the middle of the night to complain about the issue, but I calmly explained that we would have someone out to fix the problem first thing in the morning. Sure enough, by 8 am, the maintenance team had replaced the hot water heater and the resident was happy again.”

13. Can you give us some examples of your leadership skills?

This question is a great way to show your potential employer how you can lead others and manage projects. When answering this question, it’s important to highlight the skills that make you an effective leader.

Example: “I have been leading teams for over five years now, so I’ve developed some strong leadership skills along the way. One of my favorite things about being a leader is helping other team members develop their own skills. In my last position, I noticed one of my employees was having trouble with a project they were working on. So, I offered to help them learn more about the project and provided tips and advice to help them succeed.”

14. Provide an example of a time when you went above and beyond for a customer.

This question is an opportunity to show your dedication and willingness to go the extra mile for a client. When answering this question, it can be helpful to think of a specific situation where you went above and beyond for a customer or client and how that helped them achieve their goals.

Example: “When I was working as a project manager at my previous company, we had a client who needed help with managing their budget. They were having trouble staying within their budget and wanted some advice on how they could manage their funds more effectively. I met with the client and discussed different strategies they could use to stay within their budget while still achieving their overall goals. The client ended up implementing several of these strategies and reported back that they were able to save money by following our suggestions.”

15. Are you familiar with any property management software?

Example: “I am familiar with the Fair Housing Act because I have worked in property management for several years. This act prohibits discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, disability, familial status or national origin. As a property manager, I always make sure my company complies with the Fair Housing Act. For example, we never deny anyone housing based on their race, religion or other protected characteristics.”

18. What is something you would change about the way things are done here?

This question is a way for the interviewer to assess your ability to make improvements. It also shows that you are willing to take on challenges and improve processes. When answering this question, it can be helpful to think of something specific about the company or industry that you would like to change.

Example: “I would love to see more collaboration between departments. I know there are many times when we have an idea but don’t share it with other teams because we’re afraid of being wrong. If we could all work together to develop ideas, I think we could come up with some great solutions.”

19. As a Leasing Consultant, how would you advise someone who has never leased an apartment before?

This question can help the interviewer understand your customer service skills and how you would interact with a client who may be unfamiliar with leasing an apartment.
