Hertz is a car rental company that operates in airports around the world. If you’re looking for a job with Hertz, you can expect to be asked some specific questions about the company and its operations. In this article, we’ll give you some examples of Hertz interview questions and answers to help you prepare for your interview.

Hertz Interview Process

The interview process at Hertz can vary depending on the position you are applying for. For some positions, like customer service representative or sales associate, the process is relatively straightforward and may only involve one or two interviews. For other positions, like manager trainee or operations manager, the process may be more involved and include multiple rounds of interviews. Overall, the interview process is generally positive, with interviewers being described as knowledgeable and engaging.

1. Tell me about a time where you had to deal with an upset customer and how you handled the situation.

An interviewer may ask this question to see how you handle conflict and stress. This is an important skill for customer service professionals, so they want to know that you can effectively resolve issues with customers. In your answer, try to show the interviewer that you have excellent communication skills and are able to diffuse a situation.

Example: “I once had a customer who was upset because he thought I gave him a damaged car. He started yelling at me when I first saw him, but I calmly explained that I didn’t give him the car and that it must have been damaged in transport. He apologized and we were able to get his rental process going smoothly.”

2. Do you have any experience working at an airport?

This question is a great way for the interviewer to learn more about your experience and how you performed in that role. If you have airport experience, be sure to highlight it in your answer. If you don’t have any airport experience, you can still discuss other relevant work experience.

Example: “I worked at an airport for two years as a valet driver. I was responsible for picking up customers’ cars from their parking spots and driving them to the terminal entrance. It was a very fast-paced environment, but I learned a lot about customer service and efficiency.”

3. What is your management style?

This question is an opportunity to show your potential employer that you have the skills and experience necessary to be a successful manager. When answering this question, it can be helpful to describe how you would manage employees in similar situations as those you might encounter at Hertz.

Example: “I believe my management style is collaborative and supportive. I like to encourage open communication between myself and my team members so we can work together to find solutions to any challenges or problems we may face. I also think it’s important for managers to provide their employees with clear expectations and goals so they know what is expected of them and can meet those expectations.”

4. Are you comfortable using computer programs like Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook?

The interviewer may ask you this question to see if you have experience using specific programs that Hertz uses. If you don’t have experience with these programs, consider taking a class or practicing on your own before the interview so you can show the interviewer that you’re willing to learn new things and develop professionally.

Example: “I’ve used Microsoft Excel in my previous job as an accountant, but I’m not as comfortable with it as I am with Google Sheets. However, I would be happy to take a refresher course on Excel before starting at Hertz.”

5. Why do you want to work for Hertz?

This question is a great way for the interviewer to learn more about your interest in working for Hertz. They want to know that you are passionate about their company and what it offers customers. After graduating from high school, I decided to pursue a career in automotive repair. Working for Hertz would allow me to combine my love of cars with helping others.”

6. How would you handle an altercation between two employees?

This question can help the interviewer assess your conflict resolution skills. Use examples from past experiences to highlight how you handled a disagreement between two employees and helped them resolve their differences.

Example: “In my last position, I had an employee who was consistently late for work. This caused other employees to have to cover his shifts, which led to some of them being late as well. When I first learned about this issue, I spoke with the employee about it privately. He apologized and promised to be on time more often. However, he continued to be late, so I scheduled a meeting with him and all of the employees who were covering for him. We discussed why it was important that everyone arrive at the same time and came up with a solution where they could swap shifts every week.”

7. Give me an example of when you went above and beyond for a customer.

This question is a great way to show your interviewer that you are willing to go the extra mile for customers. When answering this question, it can be helpful to think of a time when you helped a customer in an unexpected way or went out of your way to help them with something.
