How to Write a Hotel Cleaner Resume

Here’s how to write a resume of your own.

Write Compelling Bullet Points

When you’re writing bullet points, it can be tempting to just list your responsibilities. But that’s not enough to make a hiring manager take notice. Instead, use your bullet points to tell a story about your work.

For example, rather than saying you “cleaned hotel rooms,” you could say you “cleaned 15 hotel rooms per hour while maintaining high level of quality in accordance with company standards.”

The second bullet point is much stronger because it provides specific details about what you did and how well you did it.

Identify and Include Relevant Keywords

When you submit your resume online, it’s likely that it will be scanned by an applicant tracking system (ATS) for certain keywords. These programs look for specific terms related to the job opening in order to determine whether or not you have the skills and experience required for the role. If your resume doesn’t include enough of the right keywords, your application might not make it past the initial screening process.

To increase your chances of getting an interview, you should make sure to include relevant keywords throughout all sections of your resume. Here are some commonly used hotel cleaner keywords:

  • Cleaning
  • Teamwork
  • Time Management
  • Communication
  • Organization Skills
  • Hotel Management
  • Social Media
  • Customer Service
  • Food & Beverage
  • Leadership
  • Negotiation
  • Research
  • Catering
  • Public Speaking
  • Microsoft Access
  • Event Planning
  • Cleaning Services

  • Housekeeping
  • Hospitality
  • Housekeeping Management
  • Hospitality Management
  • Food Service
  • Commercial Cleaning
  • Public Relations

  • MICROS

Showcase Your Technical Skills

Hotel cleaners need to be proficient in the use of cleaning equipment and chemicals. They also need to be able to use technology to communicate with other members of the hotel staff.

Some of the programs and systems that hotel cleaners are typically expected to be proficient in include: cleaning equipment, cleaning chemicals, and hotel management software.
