How Do I Know If My Cash App Is Verified?

You can tell whether your Cash App account is verified by checking your sending and receiving limits. Cash App does not display a special badge or icon on your profile to indicate that your identity has been verified. Instead, the clearest sign is whether your account allows you to send more than $250 per week. If it does, your identity verification is complete.

Check Your Account Limits

The fastest way to confirm your verification status is to look at your transaction limits directly in the app. Open Cash App, tap your profile icon in the upper corner, and scroll to find your account limits or settings. Here is what the numbers tell you:

  • Unverified: You can send up to $250 per week and receive up to $1,000 within a 30-day period.
  • Verified: You can send up to $7,500 per week and receive unlimited funds with no monthly or weekly cap.

If your limits still show $250 for sending, your account has not been verified yet. If you see the higher $7,500 weekly sending limit, verification is already done.

The Blue Checkmark Is Something Different

You may have noticed that some Cash App accounts have a blue verification badge next to their $cashtag. That badge does not mean the same thing as identity verification. It is reserved for public figures, celebrities, and major brands, and it simply confirms that the account is the authentic presence of that person or company. The badge shows up on their profile, in payment receipts, in search results, and in your activity feed.

Regular users who verify their identity will not receive a blue checkmark. Your verified status is reflected only through your increased account limits, not through any visible badge on your profile.

How to Verify If You Haven’t Yet

If your limits indicate you are still unverified, Cash App will typically prompt you to verify when you try to send an amount above the unverified threshold or when you attempt certain features like direct deposit or Bitcoin transactions. You can also start the process yourself by tapping your profile icon, selecting “Personal,” and following the prompts.

Cash App will ask for three pieces of information to start:

  • Your legal name (as it appears on official documents)
  • Your date of birth
  • The last four digits of your SSN or ITIN

In some cases, Cash App may request additional information. This can include your full Social Security number or ITIN, your residential address, an unexpired government-issued photo ID, or documentation showing your income or source of funds. Not everyone is asked for all of these. The app determines what it needs based on its review of the initial information you provide.

What Happens After You Submit

Verification is often instant. Once you enter your details, Cash App runs a check and either approves you right away or asks for more documentation. If you are asked to upload a photo ID, make sure the image is clear, the ID is not expired, and all four corners of the document are visible.

If verification fails, Cash App will let you know within the app. Common reasons include a name mismatch (your Cash App name does not match what is on your ID), an expired document, or an unreadable photo. You can usually retry immediately after correcting the issue. Once approved, your sending limit jumps to $7,500 per week and receiving limits are removed entirely.

Why Verification Matters

Beyond the higher limits, verification unlocks features that unverified accounts cannot access. These include direct deposit, the ability to buy and sell Bitcoin, and Cash App’s tax reporting features. If you plan to use Cash App for anything beyond small occasional transfers, verification is essentially required. The process takes just a few minutes in most cases, and you only need to do it once.
