You can cancel your Course Hero subscription through your account settings on the website, or through the App Store or Google Play if you subscribed through a mobile app. The process takes just a few minutes, and your Premier access continues until the end of your current billing period.
Cancel Through the Course Hero Website
If you signed up for your subscription directly on Course Hero’s website, you need to cancel there as well. Log in to your account at coursehero.com, click on your profile icon in the top-right corner, and select “Account Settings.” From there, look for your subscription or membership details and choose the option to cancel. Follow the on-screen prompts to confirm.
Course Hero may present retention offers or ask why you’re leaving before finalizing the cancellation. You can decline these and proceed. Once complete, you should receive a confirmation email. Save it in case you need proof later.
Cancel an App Store or Google Play Subscription
If you subscribed through the iOS App Store or Google Play Store, Course Hero’s website cannot cancel your subscription for you. The billing relationship is with Apple or Google, so you need to manage it through them directly.

If you’re unsure where you originally subscribed, check your email for past receipts. A charge from Apple or Google means you subscribed through the app store. A charge directly from Course Hero means you subscribed on the web.
What Happens After You Cancel
Canceling doesn’t cut off your access immediately. Your account keeps its Premier membership features until the end of the billing cycle you’ve already paid for. After that period expires, your account reverts to a Basic Membership. You can still log in and access any documents you’ve uploaded, but you’ll lose Premier perks like unlocks and tutor questions.
Refund Eligibility
Course Hero offers a Money Back Guarantee, but it comes with specific conditions. To qualify for a full refund, all of the following must be true:
- Timing: You request the refund within 30 days of your purchase.
- Unlocks: You have not used more than five subscription unlocks.
- Tutor questions: You have not asked more than one subscription tutor question.
- First-time request: You have not received a refund under this guarantee before.
- Hero Trio subscribers: If you purchased the Hero Trio plan (which bundles QuillBot and Symbolab), you must not have used either of those services for more than three days.
Course Hero reserves the right to deny refund requests it considers fraudulent or abusive, and it may ask for proof of purchase. If you meet all the criteria, submit your refund request through Course Hero’s support page as soon as possible rather than waiting until the 30-day window is almost closed.
If You Can’t Find the Cancel Option
Some users run into trouble locating the cancellation button in their account settings. The most common reason is that the subscription was billed through Apple or Google rather than Course Hero directly, which means the cancel option won’t appear on the website. Double-check your payment method first.
