How to Cash Out GCash: Partner Outlets, ATM & More

You can cash out your GCash balance three ways: visit an authorized partner outlet, transfer funds to a bank account, or withdraw from a BancNet ATM using a GCash Card. Each method has different fees, steps, and convenience tradeoffs. Before you can cash out at all, your account needs to be fully verified, since basic GCash accounts don’t have access to withdrawal features like bank transfers or the GCash Card.

Get Fully Verified First

When you first create a GCash account, you start with a basic profile. Basic accounts are limited to paying bills, buying load, cashing in, and scan-to-pay. To unlock cash out options, along with features like sending money, bank transfers, and the GCash Card, you need to upgrade to a fully verified account. You can do this inside the app by submitting a valid government ID and completing a selfie verification. The process usually takes a few minutes, though it can occasionally take longer during high-traffic periods.

Cash Out at a Partner Outlet

The most common way to cash out is by visiting one of GCash’s authorized partner locations. You don’t need a bank account or a physical card. Just walk in, tell the cashier or teller you want to cash out from GCash, and complete the transaction through your app.

Partner outlets include a wide range of businesses across the Philippines:

  • Pawnshops: Cebuana Lhuillier, M. Lhuillier, Tambunting, Villarica Pawnshop, RD Pawnshop, CVM Pawnshop, and Jaro Pawnshop
  • Supermarkets: Puregold
  • Department stores: SM Store and Robinsons
  • Payment facilities: ECPay, ExpressPay, DA5, PeraHUB, Posible, TrueMoney, Panalo Express, and VIP Payments Center
  • Sari-sari stores: Look for authorized GCash Pera Outlets in your neighborhood

A 2% fee applies to all cash outs at partner outlets. So if you withdraw PHP 5,000, expect to pay PHP 100 in fees. This fee is deducted from your GCash wallet balance at the time of the transaction. Pawnshops and payment centers tend to have the longest operating hours, making them a convenient option outside regular business hours.

Transfer to a Bank Account

If you have a linked bank account, you can move your GCash balance there and withdraw the funds from any ATM tied to that bank. Inside the app, go to “Transfer to Bank” (sometimes listed under “Bank Transfer”), select your bank, enter the account number and the amount, then confirm. Transfers go through either InstaPay (which processes in real time or within minutes) or PESONet (which may take until the next business day depending on when you initiate it).

Handling fees may apply depending on the bank and the transfer channel. After the funds arrive in your bank account, you can withdraw them from an ATM as you normally would, subject to your bank’s own withdrawal limits and fees. This method is especially useful for larger amounts, since you avoid carrying a big sum of cash from a partner outlet.

Withdraw From a BancNet ATM With a GCash Card

If you have a physical GCash Card, you can withdraw cash directly from any BancNet ATM. This works like a standard debit card withdrawal. The steps are straightforward:

  • Make sure your GCash wallet has enough balance to cover the withdrawal amount plus any ATM fee.
  • Go to any BancNet ATM.
  • Insert your GCash Card.
  • Enter your 6-digit ATM PIN (the same one you set when you activated the card).
  • Select your withdrawal amount and collect your cash.

You can order a GCash Card through the app once your account is fully verified. ATM fees vary depending on the machine’s operator, so check the fee notice displayed on the ATM screen before confirming your withdrawal. The GCash Card is a good option if you cash out frequently, since it lets you skip the line at partner outlets and withdraw whenever an ATM is available.

Choosing the Right Method

For small, occasional withdrawals, visiting a nearby pawnshop or sari-sari store is the fastest option since you don’t need any extra setup. The 2% fee is manageable on smaller amounts. For larger sums or regular withdrawals, transferring to a bank account is typically more cost-effective, especially if your bank offers free or low-cost ATM withdrawals. The GCash Card sits in the middle: convenient for people who want ATM access without maintaining a separate bank account, though you do need to order the card first and keep ATM fees in mind.

Whichever method you choose, always double-check your wallet balance before initiating the transaction. Failed or reversed cash outs due to insufficient funds (after fees are deducted) can take time to sort out through customer support.
