You can check your grades in Google Classroom from the Classes page, the Classwork page, or the Stream page. The whole process takes about three clicks once you’re signed in. Here’s how to find both individual assignment grades and your overall class grade on a computer or phone.
Check Your Overall Class Grade
Google Classroom gives you three different paths to the same grade. Pick whichever feels most natural.
From the Classes page: Go to classroom.google.com and sign in. On the card for the class you want, click “Your Work.” Your overall grade appears at the top. Click the grade itself to see a breakdown of how it was calculated.
From the Classwork page: Sign in and click on the class, then click “Classwork” at the top. Select “View your work.” Your overall grade shows up here as well, and clicking it reveals the grading details.
From the Stream page: Sign in and click on the class, then click “View all.” Your grade displays in the same way, with the option to click through for specifics.
Check Individual Assignment Grades
To see the grade on a specific assignment rather than your cumulative class grade, click into the class and go to “Classwork,” then select “View your work.” You’ll see a list of all your assignments along with the grade and status for each one. Assignments will show whether they’ve been graded, returned, turned in late, or are still missing.
If your teacher left comments or feedback on a particular assignment, click on it to open the full detail view. That’s where you’ll find any notes, rubric scores, or private comments from your teacher.
Checking Grades on the Mobile App
The Google Classroom app for Android and iOS follows the same general layout. Open the app, tap the class you want, and look for “Your Work” or “Classwork” to navigate to your grades. The mobile experience mirrors the desktop version closely, so the same paths described above apply. Tap on your overall grade to expand the breakdown, or tap an individual assignment to see its score and any feedback.
Why You Might Not See a Grade
If you don’t see an overall grade for a class, it’s not a glitch. Your teacher controls whether the overall grade is visible to students. Teachers can choose to show no overall grade at all, or they can display one calculated by total points or weighted by category. School administrators can set defaults for these options, but individual teachers can override them.
You may still see grades on individual assignments even when the overall grade is hidden. If both are missing, the teacher either hasn’t finished grading or hasn’t turned on grade visibility. In that case, ask your teacher directly.
What Parents and Guardians Can See
Parents who receive guardian email summaries from Google Classroom get information about missing work, upcoming due dates, and recent class activity. These email summaries do not include grades. If a guardian has been given preview access to the Classwork page (available at some schools), they can see assignment titles, details, attachments, and due dates, but still not scores.
The only way for a parent to see actual grades in Google Classroom is to sign in with the student’s account, with the student’s permission. Some schools also use a separate gradebook or learning management system that provides a parent portal with full grade access.
Tips for Staying on Top of Grades
Google Classroom doesn’t send you a notification every time something is graded. Build a habit of checking the “Your Work” page for each class regularly, especially after turning in assignments. The “View your work” screen sorts assignments by status, so you can quickly spot anything marked “Missing” or “Assigned” that you haven’t submitted yet.
If your teacher uses weighted categories (like homework worth 30% and tests worth 70%), clicking on the overall grade will show you exactly how each category contributes to your final number. This is useful for understanding which assignments have the biggest impact on your grade and where to focus your effort.
