How to Download Venmo Statements From App or Website

You can download Venmo statements as CSV files directly from the Venmo app or the Venmo website. Statements are available for each month and cover your full transaction history, including payments sent, received, and any fees. The process takes less than a minute once you know where to look.

Download Statements From the App

Open the Venmo app and go to Settings. Tap “Statements,” then use the dropdown menus to select the year and month you want. You’ll get two delivery options: download the file directly to your phone or have Venmo email it to you. If the file is too large for a direct download, Venmo will automatically send it to your email instead.

The statement arrives as a CSV file, which is a simple spreadsheet format. You can open it in Excel, Google Sheets, or any spreadsheet app. Each row represents a transaction with details like the date, the other person’s name, the amount, and whether it was a payment or a charge.

You can also pull statements from venmo.com on a computer. Log in, navigate to your settings, and find the Statements section. The same month and year selection process applies. Using the website can be easier if you need to download several months at once, since managing multiple CSV files is simpler on a desktop than a phone.

What the Statements Include

Venmo statements show a detailed history of every transaction in a given month. That includes person-to-person payments, purchases made with your Venmo debit card, transfers to your bank, and any fees. The CSV format makes it straightforward to sort, filter, or total up categories of spending in a spreadsheet.

These statements work for personal accounts, Teen Accounts, business profiles, and charity profiles. If you use a Venmo business profile, the same steps apply. There’s no separate business dashboard for downloading transaction data.

Statements for Tax Purposes

Venmo statements are not the same as tax forms, but they can help you track income and expenses throughout the year. If you receive payments for goods or services through Venmo, you may also receive a 1099-K, which is the IRS form that reports payment platform income.

For the 2025 calendar year, Venmo issues a 1099-K only when your goods-and-services payments exceed $20,000 and you have more than 200 separate transactions. Personal payments between friends and family don’t count toward either threshold. Some states have lower reporting thresholds that could trigger a 1099-K sooner.

Tax documents are issued in January and February for the prior year’s activity. If you don’t meet the 1099-K thresholds, Venmo won’t send you a tax form, but your monthly statements still contain all the transaction detail you’d need to report income on your own. Downloading a full year of monthly statements gives you a complete record.

Tips for Organizing Your Statements

If you need statements for a full year, you’ll download 12 separate CSV files (one per month). You can combine them into a single spreadsheet by copying and pasting the rows, or by using the “import” function in Excel or Google Sheets. Label each file with the month and year before you start so they’re easy to find later.

For ongoing bookkeeping, downloading your statement at the end of each month keeps records current and avoids a scramble at tax time. Business profile users in particular benefit from this habit, since separating business transactions from personal ones is much easier month by month than in a single annual batch.
