How to Find Your Student ID on PowerSchool: App & Portal

Your student ID number in PowerSchool is typically found on the Student Information form, accessible through the navigation menu after you log in. The exact location can vary slightly depending on how your school district has configured its PowerSchool portal, but the general path works the same way across most setups.

Finding Your Student ID in the Portal

Log in to your school district’s PowerSchool parent or student portal through a web browser. If multiple students are linked to your account, select the correct student’s name from the top of the screen. Then follow these steps:

  • Click on Forms in the left-side navigation menu.
  • Under the “Annual” section, open the first form, typically labeled “Student Information.”
  • Look near the top right of that form for the Student ID number. In many districts, this field is also labeled as the Lunch ID, since the same number is used for both.

Some districts display the student ID in other places as well. Check the main dashboard or the “Account Preferences” area, where basic student details sometimes appear alongside the student’s name, grade, and school. If your district uses a demographics or profile page, the ID may show up there too.

Using the PowerSchool Mobile App

The PowerSchool mobile app (available on iOS and Android) mirrors much of the web portal’s functionality, but the layout is more condensed. After logging in and selecting your student, look for a menu icon (three horizontal lines or a hamburger icon) to access navigation options. From there, try tapping on Forms or any section labeled with student details.

Not every district enables the same features on mobile as on the web portal. If you can’t find the ID in the app, switch to a browser on your phone or computer and log in to the full web version of your district’s PowerSchool portal. The web interface generally shows more information.

Why the Student ID Might Not Be Visible

School administrators control exactly which data fields parents and students can see in PowerSchool. By default, most data-display features are turned on, but your district may have restricted certain fields, including the student ID. If the information simply isn’t appearing anywhere in your portal, the school has likely configured it that way on purpose.

In rare cases, the entire parent or student portal may be temporarily disabled by the school. When that happens, you can still sign in, but you won’t be able to view any information. PowerSchool displays a message telling you the portal has been temporarily disabled and to check with your school for details.

Other Ways to Get Your Student ID

If PowerSchool isn’t cooperating, you have a few quick alternatives. Your student ID is often printed on your physical school ID card, and it may also appear on report cards, transcripts, or registration paperwork from the beginning of the school year. Many districts include the number on lunch account statements as well.

You can also contact the school’s front office or guidance counselor directly. They can look up the number in seconds and either share it with you over the phone or email it to the address on file. If you’re a parent without portal access at all, the office can also help you set up or reset your PowerSchool account so you can find the ID yourself going forward.
