How to Log In to Your Google Business Profile

You can log in to your Google Business Profile at business.google.com using the Google account linked to your business. Google retired its standalone Business Profile app in 2022, so you now manage everything through a web browser, Google Search, or Google Maps. Here’s how each method works.

Log In Through the Web

The most direct route is visiting business.google.com in any browser. You’ll see a prompt to sign in with your Google account. Use the Gmail or Google Workspace email address that’s connected to your business profile, enter your password, and you’ll land on your dashboard where you can edit your business info, respond to reviews, post updates, and view performance data.

If you manage multiple business profiles under the same Google account, you’ll see a list of all your locations after signing in. Click the one you want to manage.

Manage Your Profile From Google Search

Once you’re signed into your Google account in a browser, you can skip the dashboard entirely. Just search for your exact business name on Google, or type “my business” into the search bar. A panel will appear at the top of your search results with options to edit your profile, add photos, create posts, read and reply to reviews, and update your hours. This is the same set of tools you’d find on the dashboard, just surfaced directly in search results.

Manage Your Profile From Google Maps

On your phone, open the Google Maps app and make sure you’re signed in with the Google account tied to your business. Tap your profile icon, then select “Your Business Profile.” You can also search for your business name within Maps and tap the management options that appear. This gives you the same editing capabilities: updating your address, phone number, hours, photos, and responding to customer reviews.

This is the primary mobile method now that the standalone Google Business Profile app no longer exists. Everything runs through Google Maps or through Google Search in a mobile browser.

If You Forgot Your Password

Go to accounts.google.com/signin/recovery and enter the email address you use for your business profile. Click “Next,” then “Try another way.” If you set up a recovery email or phone number when you created the account, Google will send a verification code you can use to reset your password.

If you never set up recovery options, the process is more involved. Google’s recovery wizard will walk you through verifying that you own the account, which may include answering security questions or, for Google Workspace accounts, adding a special DNS record to your domain’s settings to prove ownership. That DNS verification can take up to 24 hours to process.

If You Forgot Which Email You Used

This is more common than most people expect, especially if you created the profile years ago or had someone else set it up. Go to accounts.google.com/signin/recovery, click “Forgot email?”, and enter the recovery phone number or email address you had on the account. Google will attempt to match it and send a verification code so you can retrieve the email address.

If that doesn’t work, think through which Google accounts you own. Try logging into business.google.com with each one. The profile will only appear under the account that created or was granted access to it.

If Someone Else Owns the Profile

Sometimes a previous employee, a marketing agency, or even a stranger has claimed your business listing. If you can reach that person, the simplest fix is asking them to add your Google account as an owner through the profile’s user management settings, then transfer primary ownership to you.

If you can’t reach them, Google lets you request ownership. Search for your business on Google Maps, click “Claim this business” or “Request access,” and fill out the form. Google will notify the current owner, who has a set window (typically seven days) to respond. If they don’t, Google may transfer the profile to you after verifying your connection to the business.

Adding Other People to Your Profile

You don’t have to share your login credentials with employees or partners. Inside your Business Profile settings, you can add other Google accounts as managers or owners. Managers can edit business information, respond to reviews, and create posts, but they can’t add or remove other users. Owners get full control. Each person logs in with their own Google account, keeping your primary credentials secure.

To add someone, open your profile from Search or the dashboard, go to the “People and access” or “Users” section, and enter their email address along with the role you want to assign. They’ll receive an invitation and can start managing the profile once they accept.
