Johnson Controls Interview Process

The interview process at Johnson Controls is lengthy, difficult, and overall not a great experience. It can take up to two months to hear back from the company after applying, and even then, the interview process is very challenging. The questions are often difficult and specific to the role you’re interviewing for, and the interviewer themselves can be quite unprofessional. 1. What do you consider to be your biggest strength?

This question can help the interviewer get to know you as a person and understand what your strengths are. When answering this question, it can be helpful to think about which skills or traits helped you succeed in previous roles.

2. Do you think you would be able to work on multiple projects at once?

This question is a great way to determine how well you can multitask. Employers ask this question because they want to know if you are able to work on multiple projects at once and still meet deadlines. In your answer, try to explain that you have the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.

Example: “I think I would be able to work on multiple projects at once. Throughout my career, I’ve had to juggle multiple projects at once while also meeting deadlines. I find that I am quite good at prioritizing which tasks need to get done first so I can complete them before the deadline.”

3. Give me an example of a time when you had to prioritize tasks and how did you go about it?

This question is a great way to assess your time management skills. It also allows the interviewer to see how you prioritize tasks and what methods you use to get them done efficiently. When answering this question, it can be helpful to give an example of a specific task that needed to be completed by a certain deadline and how you managed to complete all other tasks on time.

Example: “At my previous job, I had to manage multiple projects at once. One project was due in two weeks while another was due in one month. I started working on the project due in two weeks first because it required more research than the other project. Then, I worked on the project due in one month after completing the first project.”

4. Are you comfortable working with customers from different backgrounds?

This question can help the interviewer determine if you have experience working with people from different backgrounds. This is an important skill to have as a customer service representative because it helps you better understand your customers and their needs. Use examples from past experiences where you’ve worked with customers from diverse backgrounds.

Example: “I am very comfortable working with customers from different backgrounds. In my last role, I had many customers who were first-time parents. Some of them were single parents while others had large families. It was important for me to be empathetic when speaking with these customers so that they felt heard. I would listen carefully to what they said and ask questions to make sure I understood their concerns.”

5. Tell us what you know about Johnson Controls.

Example: “Johnson Controls is an American multinational corporation headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. 6. How do you handle stress in the workplace? Give an example.

Stress is a common workplace issue. Employers ask this question to make sure you have strategies for managing stress and how it can affect your work performance. In your answer, share two or three ways you handle stress in the workplace. Explain that these methods help you stay productive and focused on your tasks.

7. Describe your experience as a sales engineer.

Example: “In my last position as a sales engineer for an energy company, I helped customers find solutions to their energy needs by offering them different types of power sources. For example, if they needed more electricity during peak hours, I would offer them a solution like a battery backup system. If they were looking for ways to save money on their monthly bill, I would recommend switching to a cheaper alternative like solar panels.”

8. Can you tell us about a time when you had to work well under pressure or with tight deadlines?

This question can help an interviewer learn more about your ability to work under pressure and how you react to it. Use examples from previous jobs or experiences that show you’re able to handle a deadline well, prioritize tasks effectively and meet the necessary deadlines.

Example: “In my last position as a project manager, I had to manage multiple projects at once. One of these projects was with a client who wanted updates on their project every day. This meant I had to check in with them daily and provide regular updates while also managing other projects. It was challenging but I learned how to balance all of my projects and still meet the needs of my clients.”

9. We are looking for someone who can multitask effectively, describe a situation where you have done this.

This question is an opportunity to show your ability to multitask and how you can manage multiple projects at once. When answering this question, it can be helpful to describe a specific situation where you had to multitask and the steps you took to complete all of your tasks in a timely manner.

Example: “In my previous role as a project manager, I was responsible for managing several different projects at once. One day, I received a call from one of my team members who needed help with a problem they were having while working on their project. I put them on speakerphone so that I could continue working on other projects while helping them solve their issue. After we solved their problem, I returned to my other work.”

10. Tell me about a time when you were working on a project that was not going according to plan, how did you manage it?

This question is a great way to assess your problem-solving skills and ability to adapt. When answering this question, it can be helpful to mention how you overcame the challenge and what steps you took to ensure that it didn’t happen again.

Example: “At my previous job, I was working on a project with another employee who had different ideas about how we should complete the task. We were both trying to do our own thing instead of collaborating. Eventually, I realized that if we worked together, we could get the project done more efficiently. So, I approached him and asked if he would like to work together. He agreed, and we finished the project successfully.”

11. What is your experience managing accounts?

This question can help the interviewer determine your experience with financial management. Use examples from previous work to highlight your skills and abilities in this area.

Example: “In my last position, I managed a team of five accountants who worked on projects for clients. We had weekly meetings where we discussed our progress and any issues that arose. I also reviewed their work before they submitted it to senior managers. This helped me ensure that all accounting procedures were accurate and up-to-date. It also gave me an opportunity to provide feedback and coaching to my team members.”

12. Why do you want to work at Johnson Controls?

15. What do you think is the most important thing to keep in mind when designing HVAC systems?

This question is an opportunity to show your knowledge of HVAC systems and how they work. You can use this question as a way to explain the importance of keeping energy costs low, while also maintaining comfortable temperatures for customers.

Example: “The most important thing to keep in mind when designing HVAC systems is that you need to balance energy efficiency with comfort. For example, if I were working on a project where my client wanted a system that would maintain a temperature of 70 degrees at all times, it would be very expensive because the system would have to run constantly. However, if I designed a system that only ran when necessary, like when someone entered a room or turned on a light, then we could save money by not running the system when no one was there.”

16. Describe your experience with customer service.

Customer service is an important part of any role in sales. Employers ask this question to make sure you have experience with customer service and how it relates to the position. Use your answer to explain what skills you use when interacting with customers. Explain that these are transferable skills that can help you succeed in a new role.

Example: “I’ve worked as a cashier at my local grocery store for five years now, so I’m used to dealing with all kinds of people. Some days are busier than others, but I always try to be friendly and helpful. I know that sometimes things happen that aren’t anyone’s fault, so I do my best to apologize and find solutions. I also like to give out free samples or coupons to make up for any inconvenience.”

17. What tools/software do you have experience with?

This question can help the interviewer determine your comfort level with technology and software. If you have experience using specific tools or software, be sure to mention them in your answer. You can also include any other skills that may be relevant to this position.

Example: “I’ve used Microsoft Office for years, so I’m very comfortable with Word, Excel and PowerPoint. I also use Google Drive on a daily basis, which allows me to collaborate with my team members and access important documents from anywhere. In addition to these programs, I am proficient with social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter, as well as blogging sites like WordPress.”

18. We are looking for a team member who is willing to take initiative, can you provide an example of a time when you showed this quality?

This question is an opportunity to show your ability to work independently and take initiative. When answering this question, it can be helpful to provide a specific example of when you took the lead on a project or task and how it helped your team succeed.

Example: “At my previous job, I noticed that our department was falling behind in meeting our monthly sales goals. I decided to create a plan for each employee to increase their sales by 10% per month. We held weekly meetings where we discussed strategies for increasing sales and shared ideas with one another. By implementing these strategies, we were able to meet our sales goals every month.”

19. As a Program Manager, we expect you to be good at communicating information to other team members. Can you give me an example of a time when you communicated clearly with others?

Program managers need to be able to communicate effectively with their team members. This question is your opportunity to show the interviewer that you can do so in a clear and concise manner.

Example: “I once worked on a project where we needed to create a new software program for our company. I had a team of five other programmers, but also needed to work closely with the marketing department. In order to make sure everyone was on the same page, I scheduled weekly meetings with my team and the marketing department. During these meetings, I would go over what each person’s responsibilities were and how they all related to one another.”

20. Johnson Controls has been around for over 100 years, what do you think contributes to our success?

This question is a great way to show your knowledge of the company and how it has grown over time. You can use examples from your own experience with the company or you can reference specific products that have been successful for Johnson Controls.

Example: “I think one of the main reasons Johnson Controls has been so successful is because of its commitment to innovation. The company has always been at the forefront of new technology, which has helped it grow into the global leader in HVAC systems. Another reason I believe Johnson Controls has been so successful is because of its employees. The company invests heavily in training and development programs to help employees advance their careers.”
