How to Write a Kumon Tutor Resume

Here’s how to write a resume of your own.

Write Compelling Bullet Points

Bullet points are the most effective way to showcase your experience and qualifications. But rather than simply listing your responsibilities, you can make your bullet points much more interesting by using them to tell a story about your work.

For example, rather than saying you “taught math to elementary school students,” you could say that you “taught elementary school students math using Kumon math curriculum, resulting in 100% increase in test scores for students in just six months.”

The second bullet point paints a much more vivid picture of what you did and the results of your work. And it also provides specific numbers to demonstrate your impact.

Identify and Include Relevant Keywords

When you apply to be a tutor with Kumon, your resume is likely to be scanned by an applicant tracking system (ATS) for certain keywords. If your resume doesn’t include enough of the right keywords, your application might not make it past the initial screening process.

The best way to make sure your resume makes it past the ATS is to include relevant keywords throughout all sections of your document. You can find a list of commonly used keywords below:

  • Teaching
  • Teamwork
  • Organization Skills
  • Time Management
  • Research
  • Social Media
  • Public Speaking
  • Customer Service
  • Communication
  • Interpersonal Skills
  • Writing
  • Higher Education
  • Mathematics
  • Classroom Management
  • Confidentiality
  • Higher Education Administration
  • Curriculum Development
  • Lesson Planning
  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Staff Development
  • Event Planning
  • Leadership
  • Personal Development
  • Microsoft Access
  • Education
  • Coaching
  • Data Analysis
  • Literacy
  • Academic Advising
  • Special Education

Showcase Your Technical Skills

As a Kumon tutor, you will be expected to be proficient in the use of the Kumon Math and Reading Program, as well as other programs that may be used in the Kumon Center. You should also list any other relevant technical skills, such as experience with Microsoft Office Suite or other educational software programs.
