Presidio Interview Process

1. What is your sales experience?

If you don’t have direct sales experience, you can talk about any experience that involves persuading someone to take action.

Example: “In my last role as an IT manager, I had to convince our company’s leadership team to invest in new technologies for our network. I used data from our current systems to show them where we could improve productivity and efficiency by upgrading our equipment. They agreed to purchase new networking equipment, which increased our overall speed and reliability.”

2. Why do you want to work at Presidio?

Employers ask this question to learn more about your interest in their company. They want to know what attracted you to the role and how you can contribute to the organization’s success. Before your interview, research Presidio to find out what they do and why it is important. In your answer, explain why you are excited about working for a company that provides these services.

Example: “I am interested in working at Presidio because I have heard great things about the culture here. When I was researching companies in this industry, I read an article where employees said they love working here because of the friendly atmosphere. I think I would fit well into this team because I am passionate about customer service and providing excellent solutions.”

3. Describe a time where you had to deal with a difficult customer or situation. How did you handle it?

The interviewer may ask this question to assess your customer service skills. This is because working in a call center or similar role can require you to interact with customers on the phone, via email or through social media channels. Your answer should show that you have strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Example: “I once had a customer who was upset about our services. They were calling me multiple times per day, sometimes even after I told them I would get back to them later. Eventually, I realized they just needed someone to listen to their concerns. So, I took some time to talk to them about how we could help them and what we offered. After that, they felt better and stopped calling so much.”

4. Have you worked in an environment that required extensive communication and collaboration between team members?

This question can help the interviewer gain insight into your communication skills and ability to work with others. Use examples from previous roles or experiences that highlight your teamwork abilities, collaboration skills and ability to communicate effectively.

Example: “In my last role as a network engineer, I worked on a team of five other engineers who all had different skill sets. We each took turns working on projects together, but we also collaborated frequently to solve problems and troubleshoot issues. For example, when one member was unavailable for an assignment, another would step in to complete it. This helped us maintain our workflow while ensuring quality results.”

5. Tell me about a time when you made a mistake, what was the outcome?

This question is a great way to learn more about an applicant’s ability to admit their mistakes and how they’ve learned from them. When answering this question, it can be helpful to focus on the steps you took to correct your mistake and what you learned from it.

Example: “In my previous role as a network engineer, I was tasked with creating a new server for our company’s website. While working on the project, I realized that I had forgotten to install one of the required software components. I immediately notified my supervisor so we could fix the issue before going live. We were able to get everything fixed in time, but I learned that it’s important to double-check all of my work before submitting it.”

6. Can you explain how routing works?

This question is a basic networking question that the interviewer may ask to test your knowledge of routing. Use examples from past experience to explain how routing works and what it does in simple terms.

Example: “Routing is the process of finding the best path for data packets to reach their destination. Routers use forwarding tables, or routing protocols, to determine which paths are available to send data packets. The router then sends the packet along the fastest route to its destination.”

7. Do you have any experience developing software for network solutions?

This question can help the interviewer determine if you have any experience with the technologies used by Presidio. If you do, share your previous experience and how it relates to the job. If you don’t, explain what software development is and how you would learn to develop software for network solutions if hired.

Example: “I’ve never developed software specifically for network solutions, but I am familiar with some of the common programming languages that are used in this field. For example, I know Python is a popular language for scripting and automation, while Java is often used for developing enterprise applications. I also understand that there are many different types of software that can be used for network solutions.”

8. Describe a time you were given a project outside of your expertise. How did you approach it?

This question can help the interviewer understand how you approach challenges and use your problem-solving skills. Use examples from previous work experience to describe a time when you were given a project that was outside of your expertise, but you used your critical thinking skills to complete it successfully.

Example: “In my last role as an IT specialist, I was tasked with creating a new server for our company’s website. Although I had some experience in this area, I didn’t have enough knowledge to create a server on my own. Instead of trying to do everything myself, I asked one of my colleagues who specialized in servers to help me. Together, we worked through the process of creating the server together.”

9. What would you say is your greatest strength and weakness?

This question is a common one in interviews, and it’s important to be honest. Employers want to know what your greatest strengths are so they can use them when you’re on the job. They also want to know about any weaknesses that you’re working on improving or have already improved.

Example: “My greatest strength is my ability to work well with others. I am always willing to help someone else out if they need it, even if it means sacrificing some of my own time. My weakness would probably be my attention to detail. While I do my best to make sure everything is correct, sometimes I miss small mistakes. However, I’ve been working on this by taking more breaks and double-checking my work.”

Throughout my career, I’ve developed strong time management skills that allow me to effectively balance multiple projects.”

11. Tell us about a time when you didn’t agree with your manager’s decision on a project, how did you handle it?

This question can help the interviewer understand how you handle disagreements and challenges at work. Use your answer to highlight your ability to communicate with others, collaborate and problem-solve.

Example: “When I first started working as a network engineer, my manager assigned me to a project that required me to create a new server for one of our clients. However, when I was creating the server, I noticed there were some security flaws in the system. Rather than telling my manager about it, I decided to fix the issue myself so I could learn more about the process. My manager appreciated my initiative and creativity.”

12. How would you describe yourself as a leader?

Leadership is an important skill for a network engineer to have. The interviewer may ask this question to learn more about your leadership skills and how you apply them in the workplace. Use examples from your past experience to describe what makes you a good leader.

Example: “I believe that leaders should be approachable, honest and transparent with their team members. I always make sure my team knows where they stand on projects and tasks so everyone can work together effectively. In my last role as a network engineer, I led a small team of three other engineers. We worked well together because we were all open and honest with each other. When one person had questions or concerns, we addressed them immediately so we could move forward.”

13. What challenges do you think are preventing innovation in the industry?

This question can help the interviewer understand your perspective on the industry and how you might approach challenges. Use examples from your experience to explain what you think is preventing innovation in the industry, and then describe a plan for overcoming those challenges.

Example: “I believe that one of the biggest challenges preventing innovation in the IT industry is the lack of diversity within the workforce. I have seen many companies struggle with finding qualified candidates who represent different backgrounds and experiences. In my last role, we implemented an internship program to attract more diverse talent into our organization. We also partnered with local universities to provide students with opportunities to gain real-world experience.”

14. Tell me about your experience working with routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices.

The interviewer may ask you about your experience with specific network devices to see if you have the skills and knowledge necessary for the role. Use examples from your past experience working with routers, switches, firewalls and other network devices to show that you can perform the job effectively.

Example: “In my last position as a network engineer, I worked with many different types of routers, switches, firewalls and other network devices. For example, I used Cisco routers in my previous role to manage traffic on our internal networks. I also used Cisco Catalyst switches to create VLANs within our company’s network. In addition, I used Fortigate firewalls to protect our servers from unauthorized access.”

15. If hired, what would be your approach to designing software for client networks?

This question is an opportunity to show your technical skills and knowledge of the industry. Your answer should include a specific example of how you would design software for client networks.

Example: “I would first conduct a thorough analysis of the network, including its current state and any potential issues that may arise. I would then create a plan for implementing new software or hardware into the system. In my last role as a senior network engineer, I worked with a client who needed help designing their security systems. After conducting a full assessment of their network, I created a detailed plan for installing firewalls and other security measures.”

16. What tools would you use to monitor a large number of clients?

Monitoring a large number of clients is an important part of the job, and your answer should show that you have experience with this task. You can mention specific tools or processes you use to monitor clients in previous roles.

Example: “I would first create a schedule for monitoring each client every day. I would then set up alerts so that if any issues arise, I receive notifications immediately. This allows me to address problems as they happen rather than waiting until my next scheduled check-in. Monitoring multiple clients at once also requires me to be organized and efficient when entering data into the system.”

17. What types of programming languages do you know?

The interviewer may ask this question to see if you have experience with the types of programming languages they use at Presidio. If you don’t, it’s okay to say that you’re willing to learn them.

18. Give an example of a time when you had to solve a problem that was not straightforward. How did you approach the problem?

This question can allow you to demonstrate your problem-solving skills and how you approach challenges. When answering this question, it can be helpful to describe a specific situation in which you had to solve a complex problem and the steps you took to do so.

Example: “In my last role as an IT manager, I was tasked with finding a solution for our company’s outdated software that would also integrate with our new hardware. This was not a straightforward task because there were many factors involved, including budget constraints and time limitations. However, I approached the challenge by researching several different solutions and comparing their features. After doing so, I decided on a software that met all of our needs.”

19. Which area of networking are you most interested in?

This question is a great way to show your knowledge of the industry and how you can apply it. When answering, try to focus on an area that relates to the job description or company values.

Example: “I am most interested in security because I believe it’s important for businesses to have secure networks. In my last position, I implemented new firewalls and antivirus software to ensure our clients’ data was safe from hackers. This helped us gain more customers who were looking for a network with top-notch security.”

20. When presented with a new task, how do you prioritize?

This question can help an interviewer understand how you approach your work and determine which tasks are most important. Use examples from previous experience to explain how you decide what needs to be done first, second or last.

Example: “When presented with a new task, I always make sure that the task is clearly defined so I know exactly what I need to do. Then, I prioritize based on urgency and importance. Urgent tasks should be addressed immediately while important tasks may take longer to complete but will have more significant results when completed.”
