When you go for an interview at State Farm, you can expect to be asked questions about your experience with insurance and financial services. The interviewer will want to know how you would handle various customer service scenarios. They may also ask you questions about your knowledge of State Farm products and services. State Farm Interview Process

The interview process at State Farm is generally pretty easy, although it can vary depending on the position you’re applying for. For sales positions, the interview is usually just a breeze, and if you have past sales experience, it should be no problem. Sometimes there’s a two-step process, but usually it’s just with the head of the office you’ll be working with, so it’s not too bad. Actuarial analyst interviews may be a little more difficult, as they often involve behavioral questions meant to test different aspects of your work ethic and ability to work with others. There are usually 10 questions total. High school summer intern interviews are usually conducted online, with three interviews in total (meeting with the team twice and a programming assessment). Everything is well coordinated and conveyed to the applicant beforehand. Senior legal secretary interviews tend to be long, and while they initially seem exciting, many people end up declining the offer due to the high workload (100 cases) and low pay. The turnover rate for this position is also quite high. Claims specialist interviews are done through HireVue, with around 7-8 questions in total. They are typically very typical interview questions. 1. Why do you want to work at State Farm?

2. What are your strengths and weakness’s?

This question is a common one that employers ask to learn more about your personality and how you would fit into their company. When answering this question, it can be helpful to focus on the skills that are most relevant to the position you’re applying for.

Example: “I am extremely organized and detail-oriented which helps me stay on top of my work. I also have excellent communication skills, so I’m able to clearly explain complicated insurance policies to customers. My weakness is that sometimes I get so focused on work that I forget to take breaks. This has led to some health issues in the past, but I’ve learned to balance my work with exercise and healthy eating.”

3. Do you have an interest in the insurance industry?

This question is a great way to show your interviewer that you have an interest in the company and its products. If you don’t have any experience with insurance, it’s okay to say so. You can explain why you’re interested in working for State Farm and what attracted you to this particular job posting.

Example: “I’ve always been fascinated by how insurance companies work. I find it interesting that they are able to predict risk and offer policies based on those predictions. When I saw this position, I knew I had to apply because of my passion for the industry. I think I would be a great fit here because I’m eager to learn more about the insurance business.”

4. How would you explain how a car accident claim is processed to someone who has experienced one for the first time?

This question is a great way to test your customer service skills. It’s important that you can explain the process of filing an insurance claim in a way that makes it easy for customers to understand and follow along with you.

Example: “When someone files a car accident claim, they will need to provide their name, address, phone number, driver’s license information and vehicle registration details. They’ll also need to describe what happened in as much detail as possible. After this, we’ll send them a form to fill out that asks about any injuries sustained during the accident. Once all of these steps are completed, we’ll file the claim and begin processing it.”

5. Tell me about a time when you had to make an important decision without consulting with anyone else.

This question can help the interviewer get a better idea of how you make decisions and what your thought process is. Use examples from previous jobs or experiences that highlight your critical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities and leadership qualities.

Example: “When I was working as an insurance agent for another company, my manager asked me to find out why one of our clients hadn’t been paying their premiums on time. The client had been late with payments for several months in a row, so I called them up to see if there was anything we could do to help. They told me they were having financial difficulties because of some unexpected expenses. I suggested lowering their premium rate until they got back on track financially. They agreed, and after six months, they paid off all of their debt.”

6. What is your process for writing and sending emails?

This question is a way for the interviewer to assess your communication skills. State Farm wants employees who can communicate effectively with customers and coworkers, so they ask this question to see how you write and send emails. In your answer, explain that you use proper grammar and punctuation in all of your communications. You should also mention that you proofread all of your work before sending it out.

Example: “I always make sure to proofread my emails before I send them. This helps me avoid any spelling or grammatical errors. I also try to be as concise as possible when writing emails. I find that if I am more succinct in my writing, then I can get my point across without having to rewrite my email multiple times.”

7. If a customer calls and asks you a question that you don’t know the answer to, what would you do?

This question is a great way to determine how you would handle an uncomfortable situation. State Farm wants employees who are willing to admit when they don’t know something and will do their best to find the answer for the customer.

Example: “If I didn’t know the answer, I would first apologize to the customer and tell them that I would look into it as soon as possible. 8. Describe a time where you faced conflict in the workplace, how did you handle it?

State Farm wants to know that you can handle conflict in the workplace and resolve it effectively. When answering this question, be sure to highlight your communication skills and ability to work with others.

My manager wanted me to take a more aggressive stance on the case, but I disagreed because I felt like we could get better results by being more lenient. 9. Have you ever worked on a team project before? What was your role?

State Farm is a company that values teamwork and collaboration. They want to know if you have experience working on a team, how you contributed to the project and what skills you used in your role.

Example: “I’ve worked on several projects with my coworkers at previous jobs. I was always eager to take on leadership roles where I could help organize our work or delegate tasks to other members of the team. In one particular situation, we were tasked with creating an ad campaign for a new product launch. My teammates and I all had different ideas about what would be best for the client. We decided to each pitch our idea to the group and then vote on which idea we liked best. After tallying the votes, we chose my idea as the winner.”

10. Provide an example of a time when you had to deal with a difficult customer or situation.

Interviewers ask this question to learn more about your customer service skills. They want to know how you would handle a similar situation in the future if they hired you. When answering, try to focus on what you did and not what the other person did.

Example: “In my last position as an insurance agent, I had a customer who was unhappy with their policy. The customer called me multiple times asking for different things. Each time I spoke with them, I tried to be polite and helpful. Eventually, we were able to come to an agreement that satisfied both of us.”

11. How do you think communication skills help with troubleshooting problems?
