1. Why do you want to work at Texas Instruments?

2. Describe a time when you had an idea that was opposed by your coworkers, how did you handle it?

This question is an opportunity to show your leadership skills and ability to persuade others. When answering this question, it can be helpful to mention a time when you convinced others of your idea or how you used your persuasive abilities to convince others that your idea was the best option for the company.

Example: “When I first started working at my previous job, I had an idea to change our shipping process so we could save money on gas costs. My coworkers were hesitant about changing the way we shipped products because they didn’t want to risk any issues with customers receiving their orders late. I explained to them that if we changed our shipping process, we would actually be able to deliver products faster than before, which would increase customer satisfaction. They agreed to try out my idea, and after two months, we saw a 10% increase in sales.”

3. What are some of the challenges facing electronic systems today and how would you approach them?

This question is an opportunity to show your knowledge of the industry and how you can apply it to a specific situation. When answering this question, consider what challenges are currently facing electronic systems and discuss them in relation to Texas Instruments.

Example: “One challenge I see with electronic systems today is that they’re becoming more complex as time goes on. This makes it difficult for engineers to keep up with all the new developments and technologies. To address this issue, I would implement a system where employees could submit their ideas for improvements or new features. Then, other employees could vote on which ones they think should be implemented. This way, we can get input from everyone while also encouraging innovation.”

4. Tell me about a time where you were able to make an impact on the organization you worked for?

Example: “I have a few online resources I use to stay up-to-date on changes in technology. One of my favorite websites is TechCrunch because it has a lot of interesting articles about new technologies and innovations. Another resource I use is Reddit’s /r/technology subreddit where users post news stories about technological advancements. Finally, I subscribe to newsletters from companies like Texas Instruments so I can learn more about their latest products.”

6. As an applications engineer, I need people who can collaborate effectively within teams. Can you describe a situation in which you collaborated well within a team?

Next, I’d narrow down the list based on cost and feasibility. Finally, I’d present my ideas to my team and we’d discuss each one until we came up with a final design.”

9. What is the most important thing to consider when trying to solve a problem?

This question is a great way to test your problem-solving skills. It also allows you to show the interviewer that you know how to prioritize tasks and make decisions quickly. Your answer should include an example of when you had to solve a problem in the past, what you considered and how you solved it.

Example: “The most important thing to consider when trying to solve a problem is whether or not there’s a deadline. If I have plenty of time to work on a solution, I can take my time and think through all possible solutions. However, if there’s a tight deadline, I need to focus on finding a quick solution rather than taking my time.”

10. What are the biggest issues currently facing electrical engineering?

This question is an opportunity to show your knowledge of the industry and how you can contribute to its development. Electrical engineering has many challenges, so it’s important to choose one that relates to your experience.

Example: “The biggest issue facing electrical engineers today is a lack of diversity in the field. There are not enough women or minorities entering the profession, which means we’re missing out on valuable perspectives and ideas. I would like to help change this by encouraging more people from underrepresented groups to pursue careers in electrical engineering.”

11. What is your favorite semiconductor device?

This question is a way for the interviewer to see if you have an in-depth knowledge of TI’s products. You can answer this question by naming one semiconductor device and explaining why it’s your favorite.

13. How many years of experience do you have as an electrician/electrical designer?

14. Give us an example of a project you have worked on that pushed the boundaries of innovation.

Example: “I use an online project management tool to stay organized while working on multiple projects at once. I find this method of organization helpful because it allows me to create separate lists for each task or project I’m working on. This helps me keep track of what needs to be done and when. It also allows me to set reminders so I don’t forget important dates.”

17. What tools would you use to test a chip that has gone into production?

This question is a great way to test your knowledge of the tools TI uses in its production process. Use examples from your experience testing chips and describe how you would use them to ensure quality control.

Example: “In my last position, I was responsible for testing the functionality of our chips before they went into production. To do this, I used several different tools including functional testers, burn-in testers and automated test equipment. Functional testers are typically used during development to test the chip’s basic functions. Burn-in testers are used after functional testing to check for any issues that may have occurred during production. 18. Have you ever been part of a large scale testing effort? If so, please share any lessons learned from past experiences.

This question is an opportunity to show your problem-solving skills and ability to learn from past experiences. When answering this question, it can be beneficial to share a specific example of when you were part of a large scale testing effort and the lessons learned from that experience.

Example: “At my previous company, I was part of a team that worked on a project for a client who needed a new chip design. The project required us to test multiple chips at once, which meant we had to work in groups to complete the task. We found that working in teams helped us communicate more effectively and solve problems faster. This led me to create a system where each group member would have a specific role during testing.”

19. Are you familiar with circuit simulation software such as SPICE?

Circuit simulation software is a common tool used by engineers to test and analyze circuits. The interviewer may ask this question to see if you have experience using similar tools in your previous roles. If you do, share what you know about the software and how it can be beneficial for testing purposes. If you don’t have any experience with circuit simulation software, consider researching some of its features before your interview so that you can discuss them confidently.

Example: “I’ve worked with SPICE in my last role as an engineer. I found it very useful for analyzing circuits because it allowed me to predict how different components would interact with each other. This helped me make more informed decisions when designing circuits.”

20. We pride ourselves on being a company that encourages creativity. How do you bring creativity to your work?

This question is an opportunity to show your ability to think outside the box and use creativity in your work. You can answer this question by describing a time you used creative thinking or problem-solving skills to complete a project.

Example: “I pride myself on being able to find solutions to problems that others may not see. For example, when I was working as a software engineer at my previous company, we were tasked with creating a new app for our client. The client wanted us to create a way for users to be able to upload their own photos into the app. At first, it seemed like there wasn’t a way to do this without making major changes to the code. However, after some brainstorming, I came up with a solution where we could allow users to upload their own photos while still keeping the original coding intact.”
