Example: “I once had a customer who was upset because they didn’t receive their shipment on time. I called them right away and apologized for any inconvenience we caused. Then, I offered to send out another shipment at no cost or give them a discount on their next order. The customer accepted my offer and said they would use our services again in the future.”

5. Have you ever been in sales before? If so, tell us about your sales experience.

Example: “At my previous job, I had to find a solution for our company’s shipping costs. We were spending too much money on fuel and needed to find an alternative. After researching different options, I found that we could save money by switching from diesel trucks to electric ones. This would also help us reduce our carbon footprint. The change saved us thousands of dollars per year.”

14. Give me an example of a goal you reached and tell me how you achieved it.

This question is a great way to show the interviewer that you have experience with setting goals and achieving them. When answering this question, it can be helpful to give an example of a goal you set for yourself and how you achieved it.

Example: “In my last position as a warehouse manager, I wanted to increase our inventory turnover rate by 10%. To do this, I met with my team to discuss ways we could improve our efficiency in the warehouse. We decided to implement new technology into our system, which helped us reduce errors and streamline our processes. As a result, we were able to achieve our goal.”

15. What do you know about truckload shipping?

Truckload shipping is one of the most common methods used by 3PLs. It involves a single truck carrying goods from one location to another. Trucking companies often use this method because it’s cost-effective and efficient.

When you’re asked about truckload shipping, explain what it is and how it works. You can also mention that you’ve worked with trucking companies in the past. This shows your experience and knowledge of the industry.

Example: “Truckload shipping is when a truck carries freight from one place to another. I have worked with many trucking companies in the past, so I know how important it is for them to be on time. When they are late, it costs them money. That’s why I always make sure my drivers are aware of their deadlines.”

16. How do you handle rejection?

Interviewers may ask this question to see how you react when things don’t go as planned. They want to know that you can handle challenges and remain positive in the face of adversity. In your answer, try to show that you are resilient and willing to learn from mistakes.

Example: “I understand that sometimes there is nothing I can do to avoid rejection. However, I always take time to reflect on what went wrong so that I can improve my performance next time. For example, if a shipment was late, I would look at all the factors that contributed to the delay and make sure to address them for future shipments.”

17. Are you comfortable working under deadlines?

This question is a good way to assess your time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks. When answering, it can be helpful to mention a specific situation where you were able to meet a deadline or complete an important task in a short amount of time.

Example: “Yes, I am comfortable working under deadlines. In my last position, I was responsible for arranging the delivery of several large shipments within a week. One shipment needed to arrive by the end of the day on Friday, while another needed to arrive two days later. I worked with my team to create a plan that would allow us to deliver both shipments on time. We managed to get both shipments delivered before their respective due dates.”

18. Have you ever worked in a commission-based role before?

This question is a great way to learn more about the candidate’s work history and how they performed in their previous roles. If you’re hiring for a commission-based position, it can be helpful to know if the applicant has experience working under that type of compensation plan.

Example: “I have worked in a commission-based role before, but I prefer hourly wages because I find them to be more reliable. In my last commission-based job, I found that there was too much pressure on me to meet sales quotas. This led to me making some decisions that weren’t always in the best interest of the company.”

19. Are you more of a leader or a follower?

This question is a great way to determine how you will fit into the company culture. If your interviewer asks this, they are likely trying to figure out if you can adapt to their unique environment and style of leadership.

Example: “I am definitely more of a leader than a follower. I thrive in environments where I have autonomy over my work and can make decisions on my own. However, I also understand that there are times when it’s necessary to follow the lead of others.
