What Size Banner for a 10×10 Booth? By Type

For a standard 10×10 trade show booth, the most common banner is a backwall backdrop measuring approximately 8 feet wide by 8 feet tall (roughly 96″ x 96″). That size fills the rear wall without exceeding the height limits most shows enforce for inline booths. But “banner” can mean several things in a booth setup, so the right dimensions depend on whether you need a full backdrop, retractable pull-up banners, or a table display.

Backwall Backdrop Dimensions

A full-width backdrop is the centerpiece of most 10×10 booths. Your booth space is 10 feet wide and 10 feet deep, but the usable wall area is slightly smaller once you account for the frame or support structure. Most fabric backwall systems designed for this footprint produce a graphic area around 115″ wide (just under 10 feet) and 90″ to 96″ tall. That fills the back wall from side to side and reaches close to the 8-foot height cap.

Nearly all trade shows and convention centers limit back wall height to 8 feet (96 inches) for standard inline booths. There’s also a common rule restricting anything in the front half of your booth to 4 feet tall. So your tall backdrop needs to sit in the rear 5 feet of the space. If you’re ordering a custom-printed banner to hang on a pipe-and-drape system rather than a freestanding frame, measure the actual pipe width and height at your specific venue, since pipe-and-drape dimensions can vary by a few inches.

Retractable Banner Stand Sizes

Retractable (pull-up) banner stands are popular because they’re portable, set up in seconds, and work as side panels or supplementary signage. The most common width is 33 inches, with a height that adjusts up to about 78 to 80 inches. That single-width stand fits easily beside a table or in a corner without eating too much floor space.

Wider options are available at 45″, 48″, and 57″ if you want more graphic real estate. Two 33-inch retractable stands placed side by side span about 5.5 feet, which can serve as a partial backdrop if you don’t want a full backwall system. Three of them cover roughly 8 feet. Heavy-duty retractable stands reach heights of 85 to 92 inches, giving you a taller visual presence while still fitting under the 8-foot rule.

For a 10×10 booth, one or two 33″ x 80″ retractable banners is the sweet spot if you’re using them alongside other displays. If retractable stands are your only backdrop, plan on three units or step up to the wider 48″ or 57″ models.

Table Banner and Runner Sizes

If your booth includes a 6-foot or 8-foot folding table, a table runner or tablecloth banner adds branded visibility at the front. Standard table runners are 90 inches long and come in widths from 24″ to 60″. The runner drapes across the table’s width, hanging down both the front and back. On a standard 2.5-foot-tall table, a 90-inch runner reaches the floor on both sides.

A 24″ to 30″ wide runner works well for a centered logo strip over a tablecloth, while a 48″ to 60″ runner covers most of the table surface for a bolder look. Full table throws that cover the entire table (including sides) are a separate product, typically sized to fit 6-foot (72″ x 30″) or 8-foot (96″ x 30″) tables, draping to the floor on all sides.

Hanging and Finishing Options

How you plan to mount the banner affects what finishing you should order. For pipe-and-drape systems, request pole pockets along the top and bottom edges so the banner slides onto the horizontal pipes. This keeps the fabric taut and wrinkle-free. For zip-tie or hook attachment, grommets (reinforced holes) placed every 1 to 2 feet along the edges give you flexible mounting points. Most printers hem the edges before adding grommets to prevent tearing.

Fabric banners work best indoors because they’re lightweight, don’t glare under exhibit hall lighting, and fold without creasing as badly as vinyl. Vinyl banners are more durable and better for repeated use but heavier and prone to light reflection. If you’re ordering a fabric backdrop, ask for hemmed edges with heat welding or stitching for a clean finish. For hanging banners that span the full 8 feet, adding a rod or dowel in the bottom pole pocket prevents sagging and keeps the graphic flat.

Quick Size Reference

  • Full backwall backdrop: 8 to 10 feet wide, 7.5 to 8 feet tall (90″ to 120″ x 90″ to 96″)
  • Standard retractable banner: 33″ wide x 78″ to 80″ tall
  • Wide retractable banner: 45″ to 57″ wide x 78″ to 92″ tall
  • Table runner: 24″ to 60″ wide x 90″ long
  • Maximum allowed back wall height: 8 feet (check your specific show’s exhibitor manual, as some events set lower limits)

Before ordering, always check your event’s exhibitor kit for exact height and signage rules. Some shows measure height from the floor including any raised platform, and others restrict signage that extends above the drape line. Ordering a banner that’s an inch or two shorter than the maximum gives you a safety margin and still looks like a full-coverage display.
