1. What are your thoughts on the current state of engineering?

Example: “I think that engineers are in a unique position to make positive changes in the world. We have the ability to create new technologies that can solve problems and improve people’s lives. I believe we should use this power for good by creating more sustainable solutions and finding ways to reduce our carbon footprint. As an engineer, I hope to be part of the solution.”

2. Tell me about a time you showed leadership in an engineering project or task.

When an interviewer asks this question, they want to know how you would apply your leadership skills in their organization. Use examples from past projects or tasks that highlight your ability to motivate and inspire others.

Example: “In my last position as a project manager for a construction company, I was tasked with overseeing the installation of new equipment at a local hospital. The hospital had several floors, so we needed to coordinate many different teams of engineers and technicians to complete the job on time. Example: “Innovation is one of the most important things to remember when working on any project. It’s crucial to always be thinking of new ways to do things or improve upon current processes. I believe that innovation starts with asking questions and being curious. If we ask ourselves ‘what if’ often enough, we may find some great solutions.”

13. Why are you looking for a new position?

When answering this question, be honest about why you’re looking for a new position. Explain what you hope to gain from the role and how it will help you achieve your professional goals.

I’ve been with them for five years now, and while I appreciate all of the opportunities they have given me, I am ready to take on more responsibility. I would love to work at Belcan because I think their reputation as a global leader in engineering staffing is very impressive. I believe I could make an impact here.”

14. Tell me about a time you showed integrity during an engineering project.

Integrity is a key value for Belcan, and the interviewer may ask this question to learn more about your personal values. When answering this question, it can be helpful to describe a specific situation in which you upheld your own integrity despite pressure from others.
