Biggby Interview Process

The interview process at Biggby is generally pretty quick and easy. 1. What do you know about our company?

2. Why would you like to work for Biggby Coffee?

3. What is your prior experience with making coffee and other beverages?

4. How will this job fit into your long term goals?

Employers ask this question to make sure you’re applying for the job because it’s a good fit and not just because it’s available. Before your interview, think about what you want to accomplish in your career. Make a list of three or five goals that align with the job description. When answering this question, explain how this position will help you achieve those goals.

Example: “I’m looking for a long-term career where I can use my skills and experience to grow professionally. Biggby Coffee is an amazing company with a great reputation, so I know working here would be a great opportunity for me. In my previous role as a barista, I learned a lot about customer service and making coffee drinks. Now, I’m ready to take on more responsibility and become a shift supervisor.”

5. Do you have any experience working in a fast-paced environment?

This question is a great way for employers to learn more about your ability to work in a busy environment. If you have experience working in a fast-paced environment, share some of the challenges and how you overcame them. If you don’t have any experience, explain what you would do if faced with this situation.

Example: “I worked as a barista at a coffee shop that was always busy. I learned how to multitask while still providing excellent customer service. I also developed my time management skills so I could get orders out quickly without sacrificing quality.”

6. What’s your favorite type of coffee?

This question is a great way to learn more about your potential employee’s coffee preferences. It can also help you determine if they’re a true coffee lover or just someone who knows how to make it. If the candidate answers with their favorite type of coffee, ask them why they like it so much. This will give you insight into what kind of barista they might be and whether they’ll fit in well at Biggby.

Example: “My favorite type of coffee is a mocha latte. I love the rich flavor of dark chocolate combined with the smooth taste of espresso.”

7. Tell me about a time where you had to deal with an angry or upset customer, how did you handle it?

This question is a great way to show your customer service skills and how you can handle difficult situations. When answering this question, it’s important to focus on the positive outcome of the situation and highlight any specific actions you took that helped resolve the issue or calm the customer down.

Example: “I once had a customer who was upset because they didn’t like their drink. I apologized for the inconvenience and offered them another drink at no charge. They were still unhappy with the experience, so I gave them a gift card as an apology. This satisfied the customer and allowed me to learn from my mistake.”

8. Are you comfortable working on weekends?

The interviewer may ask this question to see if you are willing to work weekends. If the position requires weekend work, they want to make sure that you’re comfortable with it. In your answer, let them know whether or not you would be okay working on weekends and why.

Example: “I am actually quite comfortable working on weekends. I enjoy interacting with customers who come in for coffee on the weekends. It’s a great way to start my day and get some energy before starting my week.”

9. How would you go about training a new employee?

Training new employees is an important part of any manager’s job. Interviewers may ask this question to see how you would train a new employee and if you have experience doing so. In your answer, explain what steps you would take when training someone new to the company.

Example: “I believe that it’s important for managers to be available to help their team members learn about their jobs. I would make sure to set aside time each week to meet with my new hires individually or in small groups to go over different aspects of their jobs. I would also encourage them to come to me with questions as they arise.”

10. Have you ever worked as part of a team? If so, what was your role?

This question is a great way to learn more about your potential coworkers and how they work together. If you have never worked in a team environment, it’s important to be honest and explain why.

Example: “I’ve always been part of a team at my previous jobs. I started out as the barista, but after a few months, I was promoted to shift supervisor. My role was to make sure all employees were doing their job and that customers were happy with their experience. It was challenging, but I learned so much from the experience.”

11. Do you think that you will be able to adapt to the BIGGBY culture?

The interviewer may ask this question to see if you have the ability to adapt to a new environment. They want to know that you are willing to learn and grow with their company. In your answer, try to show that you are open-minded and eager to take on new challenges.

Example: “I think I will be able to adapt to the BIGGBY culture because of my outgoing personality. I am always looking for ways to make others happy, so I would love to get to know all of my coworkers and customers. I also think that I can adapt to any work environment because I am flexible and patient.”

12. Explain a time when you had to take initiative at work.

This question can help the interviewer understand how you approach new tasks and responsibilities. Use examples from your previous work experience to highlight your ability to take initiative, solve problems and complete projects on time.

Example: “At my last job, I was working with a team of five other baristas when we had an influx of customers during our rush hour. We were all busy making drinks for customers, but one of my coworkers was having trouble making a latte. I noticed this and offered to make it for her so she could focus on other orders. She thanked me for helping out, and we both got through the rush without any issues.”

13. Do you have any experience managing a staff?

This question is a great way to show your leadership skills and management experience. If you have previous experience managing staff, be sure to highlight the responsibilities you had in that role.

Example: “I’ve worked as a barista for five years now, so I’m very familiar with how to manage a team of employees. In my current position, I am responsible for hiring new baristas when needed and training them on our coffee shop’s standards. I also make sure all of my baristas are following company procedures and making quality drinks for customers.”

14. Describe a situation where you had to put the needs of the customers above your own.

This question is a great way to show your dedication and willingness to serve others. When answering this question, it can be helpful to describe a specific situation where you helped another person or group of people even though it was inconvenient for you.

Example: “When I worked at my previous job, we had a customer who came in every day around the same time. He would order a large coffee with cream and sugar, but he never added any cream or sugar to his coffee. One day, when I was working alone, he came in as usual and ordered his coffee. I forgot to add the cream and sugar, so I made him a new one. He didn’t say anything, but I could tell that he was disappointed. After he left, I apologized to him and offered him a free drink on me.”

15. Where do you see yourself in five years?

This question is a common one in interviews, and it’s often asked to see if you have career goals. When answering this question, be honest about your future plans but also show that you’re willing to stay with the company for several years.

Example: “I plan on staying in this industry as long as I can. My goal is to work my way up through the ranks at Biggby Coffee until I’m managing a team of baristas.”

16. What would you say is your greatest strength and weakness?

This question is a common one in interviews, and it’s important to be honest. Employers want to know what you’re good at and how you can improve your weaknesses. When answering this question, think about the skills that are most relevant to the position.

18. Can you tell us about a time when you made a mistake at work, how did you fix it?

This question is a great way to learn more about how you respond to challenges and mistakes. When answering this question, it can be helpful to think of an example that shows your ability to problem-solve and learn from your mistakes.

Example: “When I first started working at my last job, I was so excited to get to work every day that I would often arrive early. One morning, I arrived 15 minutes before my scheduled start time. My manager saw me and asked why I was there so early. I told her that I wanted to make sure I was ready for the day. She explained that arriving early wasn’t necessary because she had already set up everything for the day. I apologized and promised not to do it again.”

19. Can you describe a time when you had to convince someone to buy something they didn’t want?

This question can help the interviewer understand how you handle objections and convince customers to buy a product or service. Use examples from previous jobs where you had to overcome an objection and still managed to close the sale.

Example: “In my last job, I was working with a customer who wanted to order a coffee but didn’t want any sugar in it. When I asked why, they said that they were trying to cut back on their sugar intake. I explained that our coffee is already naturally sweetened and that there are no added sugars in our drinks. They ended up ordering a drink with sugar anyway.”

20. What are your hours of availability?

This question is a way for the interviewer to understand your availability and commitment. It’s important that you are available during their peak hours of business, but it’s also important that you’re able to work with them on scheduling if necessary.

Example: “I am available Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., however I can be flexible depending on what works best for the company.”
