Write Compelling Bullet Points

Bullet points are the most important part of your resume because they’re the first thing recruiters will read. And they’re the best way to showcase your experience and qualifications.

So it’s crucial that you use them to their full potential. And that means using them to describe your accomplishments and results. So rather than saying you “managed event staff,” you could say you “managed event staff to ensure smooth operation of 10K-person conference, resulting in zero incidents or complaints and only two lost items reported.”

The second bullet point is much stronger because it provides specific details about what you did and the outcome of your work. And it also provides a quantifiable result (zero incidents or complaints).

Identify and Include Relevant Keywords

When you submit your resume for an event staff position, it’s likely that it will be scanned by an applicant tracking system (ATS) for certain keywords. This system looks for certain terms related to the job, like “public relations” or “event planning.” If your resume lacks the right keywords, your application might not make it past the initial screening process.
