1. What do you know about Experian?

Example: “I know that Experian is one of the world’s leading information services companies. It provides data management solutions to businesses in many industries, such as financial services, telecommunications and retail. I also know that it has three main brands—Experian Consumer Services, which offers credit reports and scores; Experian Marketing Services, which helps businesses with their digital marketing strategies; and Experian Credit Services, which provides risk assessment and decisioning tools.”

2. How would you respond to a customer who is very upset with their credit score and how it is affecting their ability to get a loan?

Experian is a credit reporting agency, so it’s likely that you will have to interact with customers who are upset about their credit score. An interviewer may ask this question to assess your customer service skills and how you would respond to an angry client. In your answer, try to show empathy for the customer while also explaining why their situation is not as bad as they think.

Example: “I understand that when someone finds out their credit score, they might be disappointed or even angry. However, I always remind them that their credit score is just one factor lenders use to determine whether to give them a loan. If they can demonstrate other factors like income and assets, then they should still be able to get a loan.”

3. Give me an example of a time when you had to make a difficult decision or manage conflict at work.

Experian is a large company with many departments. The hiring manager may ask this question to learn more about your ability to make decisions and resolve conflict in the workplace. Use an example from your previous job that shows you can think critically, weigh options and communicate effectively.

Example: “At my last job, I had to decide whether or not to fire one of our sales representatives. This person was consistently missing their sales quotas and failing to meet deadlines. I met with them to discuss the issue and learned they were having personal problems that were affecting their work performance. I decided to give them another chance, but set clear expectations for improvement. They agreed to get help for their personal issues and improve their performance.”

4. Describe your experience as a software developer.

Experian is a technology company, so it’s likely that you’ll be working with software. This question allows the interviewer to assess your experience as a developer and how well you can apply those skills in their organization.

Example: “I have been developing software for over five years now. I started out by learning Java and then moved on to Python. I also learned C++ and Ruby on Rails. In my last job, I was responsible for creating new applications and maintaining existing ones. I worked closely with other developers and business analysts to ensure that all of our projects were completed on time.”

5. What areas in the business are you most interested in working in?

This question is a way for the interviewer to learn more about your career goals. It also helps them determine which department you would fit best in at Experian. When answering this question, it can be helpful to mention two or three areas that interest you and why.

Example: “I am most interested in working in marketing because I enjoy coming up with creative ideas to reach new audiences. I also think my background in customer service makes me well-suited to work in customer care. 6. Can you tell us about any leadership roles you have held in the past?

Experian is a global company, so it’s likely that you’ll be working with people from different backgrounds and cultures. Employers ask this question to make sure you have experience leading others in the past. Use your answer to explain what leadership skills you possess. Share an example of how you helped someone else succeed.

Example: “In my last position as a credit analyst, I was responsible for helping my team meet our deadlines. I had to delegate tasks to other members of my team and ensure they were completing their work on time. I also had to help my team members when they needed assistance. For instance, if one person didn’t understand a task, I would walk them through it until they understood.”

7. Why did you decide to pursue a career in finance?

This question can help the interviewer get to know you better and understand your motivations for working in finance. Use this opportunity to share a story about how you got started in the industry or why it’s important to you.

Example: “I decided to pursue a career in finance because I wanted to make an impact on my community. When I was younger, I saw that many people were struggling financially, so I knew I wanted to find a way to help them. After getting my degree in business management, I found a job at a local credit union where I could use my skills to help customers improve their finances.”

8. If hired, what data protection issues will be top of mind for you?

This question is a great way to see how you prioritize your work and what you consider important. Your answer should show the interviewer that you understand data protection issues and have ideas for how to address them.

Example: “I know it’s my job to protect consumer information, but I also believe businesses need to be held accountable for their own security measures. For example, if a business has weak password requirements or doesn’t require two-factor authentication, they’re putting consumers at risk. In this case, I would recommend that the business update its policies to ensure better security. If they don’t comply, I would report them to the proper authorities.”

9. Tell me about a time that you successfully influenced someone. How was your approach different than other times where you were not successful?

This question is a great way to show your leadership skills and how you can influence others. It also shows the interviewer that you are willing to take risks in order to achieve success. When answering this question, think of a time when you successfully influenced someone or a group of people. Then, explain what made it successful and what made other times unsuccessful.

Example: “I once had a coworker who was consistently late for work. I tried talking to him about it several times but he didn’t seem interested in changing his behavior. Eventually, I decided to stop asking him if he wanted help getting to work on time and instead started leaving early myself. He noticed my change in behavior and followed suit. Now we both arrive at work on time every day.”

10. Do you have any experience working with large teams?

Experian is a large company with many departments. The interviewer may ask this question to see if you have experience working in a similar environment and how you handled it. Use your answer to highlight any teamwork skills that helped you succeed in your previous role.

Example: “In my last position, I worked as part of a team of five people who were all responsible for different aspects of the credit report process. We met every morning to discuss our progress and make sure we were on track to meet our deadlines. This was an excellent opportunity to learn about collaboration and communication. I learned how important it is to be open and honest when discussing challenges or concerns.”

11. What types of projects would you like to take on if given the opportunity?

This question is an opportunity to show your enthusiasm for the role and company. When answering, it can be helpful to mention a specific project you would like to work on or something that interests you about Experian’s business model.

Example: “I have always been interested in data security, so I would love to get involved with any projects related to this area of the business. In my last position, I worked as part of a team that developed a new system for monitoring customer accounts. This was a challenging but rewarding experience, and I would love to take on similar projects at Experian.”

12. Have you ever worked in sales?

Experian is a sales-based company, so it’s likely that you’ll be asked this question. Experian wants to know if you have experience selling and how well you can sell their products. If you don’t have any previous sales experience, explain what your role was in the sales process of your previous job.

Example: “I’ve never worked in sales before, but I did work as an account manager for my last employer. 13. Does your current company use analytics tools? Which ones?

Experian uses a variety of analytics tools to help clients make informed decisions. The interviewer may ask this question to learn more about your experience with these types of tools and how you use them in your current role. Use examples from your previous job to highlight the different types of analytics tools you’ve used and explain why they’re important for businesses.

Example: “At my current company, we use several different types of analytics tools. One is Google Analytics, which helps us track website traffic and understand what content our visitors are most interested in. We also use social media analytics tools like Facebook Insights and Twitter Analytics to better understand our audience’s interests and preferences. Finally, we use customer relationship management (CRM) software to organize all of our client data so that we can access it quickly when needed.”

14. Are you comfortable making cold calls?

Experian is a sales-oriented company, and the hiring manager may ask this question to see if you’re willing to make cold calls. If you are not comfortable with making cold calls, explain why in your answer. If you are comfortable with it, describe how you feel about doing so.

Example: “I am very uncomfortable making cold calls because I find it difficult to introduce myself to strangers. However, I have found that when I’m calling people who already know my name, it’s much easier for me to do so. In previous positions, I’ve always been able to get referrals from current customers, which has helped me build up my client base.”

15. What is your experience building new products from scratch?

Experian is a global leader in data and analytics, so it’s likely that you’ll be working on new projects or products. Your answer should show the interviewer your experience with innovation and creativity. You can describe a project where you had to create something from scratch.

Example: “In my last role as a software engineer, I was tasked with creating a new product for our client. The client wanted an app that would help them manage their inventory more efficiently. We started by researching similar apps and finding out what made them successful. Then we created wireframes of the app and discussed how we could improve upon it. After several rounds of feedback, we launched the app and the client was very happy with it.”

16. We want our employees to be able to identify opportunities to improve processes and then implement those changes. Give me an example of a time when you did this.

Experian is a company that values innovation and creativity. This question allows the interviewer to see if you have these skills and how they can apply them in your previous work experience.

Example: “At my last job, I noticed that we were spending too much time on data entry because our software was not compatible with other databases. So, I worked with my team to create an integration between our database and another one. We saved thousands of dollars by doing this, and it also allowed us to collect more information about our customers.”

17. How would you describe your communication style?

This question can help the interviewer determine how you interact with your team and other departments. Your communication style is a reflection of your personality, so it’s important to be honest about your preferences when answering this question.

Example: “I consider myself an empathetic communicator because I try to understand others’ perspectives before offering my own opinions or advice. This helps me avoid conflict and makes sure that everyone feels heard. In previous roles, I’ve found that many people appreciate this approach because they feel like I’m actively listening to them rather than just waiting for my turn to speak.”

18. You might be required to travel up to 25% of the time. Is this something you would be comfortable doing?

Experian is a global company, so you might be asked to travel for work. The interviewer wants to make sure that you are comfortable with this aspect of the job and can handle it well. If you have never traveled for work before, consider asking about what kind of support they offer employees who do need to travel.

19. What do you think are some important qualities for a manager to have?

This question can help the interviewer determine if you have some of the same qualities as their current manager. It can also show them what kind of leadership style you might use in this role. When answering, it can be helpful to mention a few specific qualities and how they helped you succeed in your previous roles.

Example: “I think one of the most important qualities for a manager is being able to communicate effectively with their team. I’ve had managers who were great at communicating ideas and expectations, which made my job much easier. Another quality that’s important to me is having a sense of humor. I find that when a manager can make work fun, it makes everyone more productive.”

20. Do you have experience using SQL Server Reporting Services?

Experian uses SQL Server Reporting Services to create reports for clients. Your answer should show the interviewer that you have experience using this software and can use it effectively. If you don’t have direct experience, you can talk about your ability to learn new programs quickly.

Example: “I have used SQL Server Reporting Services in my previous role as a database administrator. I was responsible for creating reports for our company executives on sales data, customer information and other important metrics. I also had to troubleshoot issues with the program when they arose. I am confident that I can do the same at Experian if needed.”
