How to Add Cash App Card to Apple Pay or Google Wallet

You can add your Cash App Card to Apple Pay or Google Wallet in just a few steps, either from within the wallet app itself or directly through Cash App. You don’t even need to wait for the physical card to arrive: Cash App lets many users access their virtual card details and link them to a digital wallet right away.

Before You Start

To add your Cash Card to any digital wallet, you need a verified Cash App account. That means providing your full name, date of birth, the last four digits of your SSN or ITIN, and your mailing address. Cash App may ask for additional documentation if it can’t verify you with that information alone. You also need to be at least 18, or 13 with a parent-sponsored account.

If you haven’t ordered a Cash Card yet, you can do that from the Money tab in the app. Once your card is ordered, you may be able to view the virtual card details (card number, expiration date, and CVV) from that same tab before the physical card shows up in the mail. Those details are what you’ll need to add the card to your wallet.

Adding to Apple Pay

Open the Apple Wallet app on your iPhone and tap the plus (+) button. Follow the on-screen prompts to enter your Cash Card details or scan the physical card if you have it. Apple Wallet will connect with Cash App during this process, so you’ll need to open Cash App to verify that the card was added by you. Once you confirm, the card appears in Apple Wallet and is ready to use for tap-to-pay purchases at stores, in-app payments, and online checkout wherever Apple Pay is accepted.

Adding to Google Wallet

Open the Google Wallet app on your Android phone and tap the plus (+) button, then select “Payment card.” Enter your Cash Card number, expiration date, and CVV. You’ll be asked to review and accept the Cash App Terms of Service as part of the setup.

For security, Cash App sends a verification prompt after it receives the request. Open Cash App and follow the in-app prompts to confirm you initiated the addition (or deny it if you didn’t). After confirmation, the card shows up in Google Wallet and works anywhere contactless payments are accepted.

Using Your Virtual Card Before the Physical Card Arrives

One of the more useful features is that you don’t have to wait days for the mail. After you order a Cash Card, go to the Money tab in Cash App and look for the option to view your card details. If the details are available, you’ll see the full card number, expiration date, and security code. Use those to add the card to Apple Pay or Google Wallet right away.

Not every account gets instant access to virtual card details. If you don’t see them, Cash App may show prompts explaining how to get early access. In some cases, you simply need to wait until the physical card ships. But for many users, the virtual card is ready within minutes of ordering, which means you can start making contactless payments the same day.

If the Card Won’t Add

The most common reason a Cash Card fails to link to a digital wallet is an unverified account. Double-check that your identity verification is complete inside Cash App by going to your profile and looking for any pending verification steps. If Cash App is still requesting information from you, the card won’t work with Apple Pay or Google Wallet until that’s resolved.

Other things to check: make sure you’re entering the card details exactly as they appear in the app (not an old or expired card number), and confirm that your phone’s operating system is up to date. Both Apple Pay and Google Wallet require relatively recent software versions. If the verification prompt from Cash App never appears, try closing and reopening the app, or force-quit it and relaunch. A weak internet connection can also delay or block the verification step.

If you’re under 18 and using a sponsored account, the same wallet-linking process applies, but your sponsoring adult may need to approve certain actions within Cash App first.

What You Can Do Once It’s Added

With your Cash Card in a digital wallet, you can tap to pay at any store that accepts contactless payments. You can also use it for online purchases by selecting Apple Pay or Google Pay at checkout, which auto-fills your card details so you don’t need to type them in. Your Cash App balance is what funds the transactions, just as if you swiped the physical card. Any Cash App Boosts (instant discounts at specific merchants) you’ve activated still apply to purchases made through the digital wallet, since the transaction runs through your Cash Card regardless of whether you tap your phone or swipe plastic.
