Lowe’s offers an everyday 10% military discount that applies automatically to eligible items when you shop online, but you need to verify your military status and link it to your account first. The entire setup takes just a few minutes through Lowe’s website and a third-party verification service called ID.me.
Who Qualifies
The Lowe’s military discount is available to active-duty service members, veterans, retirees, and their current spouses. Each person needs their own account to use the discount, so a service member and their spouse cannot share a single login. Spouses must verify separately and create their own MyLowe’s personal account.
How to Set Up Your Military Discount
Go to Lowes.com/military/validation to start the enrollment process. You will need two things: a MyLowe’s Rewards personal account and verified military status through ID.me. If you already have a Lowe’s account, you can link your verification to it. If not, you will create one during the process.
Click “Verify with ID.me” and follow the on-screen prompts. ID.me is a trusted third-party identity verification service used by many retailers and government agencies. Depending on your branch and status, you may be asked to upload a photo of your military ID, connect through your VA.gov login, or provide other documentation that confirms your service. The specifics vary, but ID.me will walk you through the options available to you.
Once verification is complete, you will be prompted to either sign in to your existing MyLowe’s account or create a new one. After linking the two, your military discount is permanently attached to your profile. You only need to do this once.
Using the Discount on Online Orders
After enrollment, the process is simple: sign in to your MyLowe’s personal account on Lowes.com before you start shopping. When you reach checkout, the 10% military discount is automatically applied to all eligible items in your cart. There is no promo code to enter and no extra button to click. If you are not signed in, the discount will not appear, so double-check that you see your account name in the top corner of the page before placing an order.
Spouse Enrollment
If you are the spouse of an eligible service member, you qualify for the same 10% discount, but you need your own separate MyLowe’s account. Go to the same enrollment page at Lowes.com/military/validation, select the spouse verification option through ID.me, and complete the identity check. You and the service member cannot use the same account to apply the discount on separate orders. Each person shops and checks out under their own login.
Items the Discount Covers
The 10% discount applies to most standard-priced merchandise at Lowe’s, which covers a wide range of building materials, tools, appliances, paint, hardware, and home décor. However, certain items are excluded. Sale and clearance pricing, select brands, and specific product categories may not be eligible for the additional 10% off. If an item in your cart is excluded, the discount simply will not apply to that line item during checkout. You will still see the savings on everything else in your order that qualifies.
The discount applies per item, so on a large project order the savings can add up quickly. A $2,000 appliance purchase, for example, would save you $200 if the item is eligible.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
If the discount is not showing up at checkout, the most likely cause is that you are not signed into the correct account. Verify you are logged into the MyLowe’s personal account that has the military verification linked to it. If you created multiple Lowe’s accounts over the years, the discount may be tied to a different one than the account you are currently using.
If ID.me was unable to verify your status automatically, you may need to upload additional documentation or try a different verification method within the ID.me system. Their support team can help resolve issues that come up during the identity check. Once your status is confirmed on ID.me’s end, it flows back to Lowe’s and attaches to your profile.
