How to Change Your Email Address on Credit Karma

You can change your email address on Credit Karma through the Profile and Settings page on the website or mobile browser. The process takes less than a minute if you can still log into your account. If you’ve lost access entirely, you’ll need to contact Credit Karma’s support team directly.

Change Your Email While Logged In

If you can still sign into your Credit Karma account, here’s what to do on desktop or mobile web:

  • Go to Profile and Settings and log into your account
  • Find the Update Your Email Address section
  • Enter your new email address twice, then type your current password
  • Click Update email

You’ll need to know your current password to complete the change. If you’ve forgotten it, use the password reset option first (which sends a link to your current email on file), update your password, then come back to change the email address.

If You Can’t Log Into Your Account

Things get trickier when you no longer have access to the email address tied to your Credit Karma account. Maybe you switched email providers, lost access to an old work or school email, or simply can’t remember which address you used when you signed up. In these cases, you can’t reset your password through the normal flow because the reset link would go to the old email.

Your only option here is to contact Credit Karma’s support team directly. They’ll need to verify your identity before making any changes. Expect to provide personal details like your name, date of birth, and possibly the last four digits of your Social Security number so they can match you to the correct account.

When Your New Email Is Already in Use

If you try to update your email and get a message saying the address is already associated with another Credit Karma account, it usually means one of two things: you previously created a second account with that email, or someone else (possibly you, years ago) registered it. Credit Karma only allows one account per email address.

If you previously had a Credit Karma account that you closed, you may need to use a different email address to register again. If you’d prefer to reuse the same email, contact Credit Karma’s support team and they can look into unlinking it from the old account. The same applies if you’re a brand new user seeing this error for no apparent reason. Support can investigate and sort out what happened.

A Few Things Worth Knowing

Your Credit Karma email address is also your login username, so changing it means you’ll use the new address to sign in going forward. Make sure the new email is one you check regularly, since Credit Karma sends alerts about credit score changes, new account activity, and other monitoring notifications there. If you use Credit Karma’s tax filing service or have a Credit Karma Money account, those communications will also go to the updated address.

There’s no option to change your email through the Credit Karma mobile app’s settings at this time. Use a mobile or desktop browser instead, navigate to the full website, and follow the steps above.
