Cash App does not let you view your current PIN anywhere in the app or on the website. Your PIN is stored securely and hidden from display, so there is no screen or setting that will show it to you. If you’ve forgotten it, your only option is to reset it and choose a new one.
Why You Can’t View Your PIN
Cash App treats your PIN the same way most banks treat a debit card PIN: it’s encrypted and never displayed in plain text, even to you. This means there’s no “show PIN” button tucked inside your account settings. The security logic is straightforward. If someone gained access to your phone or logged into your account on a computer, a visible PIN would give them everything they need to authorize transactions. Keeping it hidden adds a layer of protection.
How to Reset Your PIN in the App
If you can’t remember your PIN, resetting it takes about 30 seconds:
- Tap the profile icon on your Cash App home screen
- Select Security
- Press Change Cash PIN
- Confirm your new PIN
Cash App may ask you to verify your identity during this process through a text or email code, depending on your account’s security settings. Once you confirm the new PIN, it takes effect immediately for both in-app transfers and Cash Card purchases.
How to Reset Your PIN Online
You can also reset your PIN from a browser if you don’t have the app handy:
- Log into your account at cash.app/account
- Click Account at the bottom of the left toolbar to open your settings
- Find the Security section and click Change Cash PIN
- Confirm your current PIN, then enter and re-confirm your new one
Note that the web version asks you to confirm your current PIN before setting a new one. If you’ve completely forgotten it, the in-app method is generally more flexible because it can fall back on device-level verification (like Face ID or your phone’s passcode) to confirm your identity instead.
Your Cash PIN and Cash Card PIN Are the Same
Cash App uses a single PIN for everything. The four-digit code you enter when sending money in the app is the same one you type at a store’s card reader when using your Cash Card. So when you reset your PIN through either method above, it changes for both in-app transactions and physical card purchases at the same time. There’s no separate PIN to manage for the card.
Tips for Your New PIN
When you set a replacement PIN, avoid patterns that are easy to guess, like 1234, 0000, or your birth year. Pick something you can remember but that someone looking over your shoulder couldn’t easily replicate. If you’re worried about forgetting it again, write it down and store it somewhere secure at home, separate from your phone and your Cash Card. Never save it in a note on the same device you use for Cash App.
