How to Find Your Account Number on Metro App

Metro by T-Mobile does not display your full account number directly in the myMetro app. This catches many customers off guard, especially when they need the number to switch carriers. Here’s how to get it and what you’ll need it for.

Why the App Doesn’t Show It

The myMetro app lets you pay your bill, change your plan, and manage device settings, but Metro treats account numbers as sensitive information and keeps them hidden from the app interface. This is a security measure, not a glitch. You won’t find it under account settings, profile details, or billing history.

How to Get Your Account Number

Since the app won’t give it to you, you have a few reliable options:

  • Call customer service. Dial 611 from your Metro phone or call 1-888-863-8768 from any phone. After verifying your identity (typically your name, phone number, and PIN or last four of your Social Security number), a representative can provide your account number.
  • Visit a Metro store. Bring a valid photo ID to any Metro by T-Mobile retail location. A store associate can look up your account number on the spot.
  • Check your original paperwork. If you kept the receipt or documentation from when you first activated your Metro line, your account number may be printed there.

Calling 611 is usually the fastest route. Wait times vary, but the call itself only takes a few minutes once you reach a representative.

When You’ll Need Your Account Number

The most common reason people search for their Metro account number is to port their phone number to a new carrier. When you switch, your new provider will ask for two things from Metro: your account number and a transfer PIN. These let the new carrier verify that you’re the legitimate account holder and pull your number over.

To get your transfer PIN, contact Metro directly. You can request it through the same 611 call where you ask for your account number, so handle both in one conversation. Your new carrier’s activation process will prompt you to enter both pieces of information.

Your Account Number vs. Your Phone Number

Your Metro account number is not the same as your phone number. With Metro, your account number is typically a 9-digit number assigned when your account was created. Some customers assume their 10-digit phone number doubles as an account number, but entering your phone number during a port request will cause it to fail. Make sure you’re using the separate account number provided by Metro’s customer service team.
