You can get a direct deposit form from Navy Federal Credit Union through online banking or the mobile app. Log in, navigate to the direct deposit section, and download the manual form if your employer isn’t listed in Navy Federal’s automated setup tool. You’ll need Navy Federal’s routing number (256074974) and your specific account number, both of which are available inside your account dashboard.
Download the Form Through Online Banking or the App
Sign in to Navy Federal’s mobile app or online banking at navyfederal.org. On the Account Summary page, select the checking account where you want deposits sent, then select “Show More Details” to view your account number.
From there, Navy Federal offers a direct deposit setup tool that lets you search for your employer. If your employer appears in the list, you can authorize the deposit digitally without a paper form. If your employer isn’t listed, click the X at the top left of the search window and select the “Manual Form” option. This generates a downloadable form you can print and hand to your employer or HR department.
Information You’ll Need for the Form
Whether you’re filling out Navy Federal’s manual form or your employer’s own direct deposit authorization form, you need three pieces of information:
- Routing number: Navy Federal’s routing number is 256074974. This is the same for all members regardless of location or account type.
- Account number: Find this by logging in and selecting your checking or savings account on the Account Summary page, then clicking “Show More Details.”
- Account type: Specify whether the deposit should go to your checking or savings account.
Some employers use their own direct deposit forms rather than accepting the bank’s version. In that case, you just need the routing number, account number, and account type above. You won’t need Navy Federal’s form at all.
Setting Up Direct Deposit for Military Pay
Active duty service members and military retirees can set up or change their direct deposit through myPay, the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) payment portal. You don’t need a paper form for this. Log in at mypay.dfas.mil, accept the Terms of Use, then find the “Direct Deposit” link on the main menu. Enter Navy Federal’s routing number, your account number, and select your account type. Save your changes.
Updates through myPay typically process within three to seven business days. If you have trouble logging in, use the “Forgot Your Login ID?” or password reset links on the site, or call myPay support at 888-332-7411 (option 5).
Setting Up Direct Deposit for Social Security Benefits
If you’re redirecting Social Security or SSI payments to your Navy Federal account, you don’t go through Navy Federal’s form at all. The Social Security Administration handles this separately. You have a few options:
- Online: Sign in to your personal my Social Security account at ssa.gov and update your payment information there.
- By phone: Call the Treasury’s Electronic Payment Solution Center at 1-800-333-1795, or call the SSA directly at 1-800-772-1213.
- In person: Visit a Navy Federal branch and ask them to help you enroll.
Have Navy Federal’s routing number and your account number ready before you call or log in.
If You Can’t Access Online Banking
If you’re unable to log in to the app or website, you can visit any Navy Federal branch and ask a representative to print a direct deposit form for you. They can also confirm your account number and routing number on the spot. You can reach Navy Federal’s member service line at 1-888-842-6328 if you need help accessing your account details remotely.
Keep in mind that the routing number printed on your checks (if you have them) is the same one used for direct deposit: 256074974. Your account number also appears on your checks, typically the string of digits immediately after the routing number. This can be a quick backup if you need the information before you can log in.
