How to Write an Industrial Pharmacist Resume

Here’s how to write an industrial pharmacist resume of your own.

Write Compelling Bullet Points

Bullet points are the most effective way to showcase your experience and qualifications. But rather than simply listing your responsibilities, you can make your resume much more interesting by using bullet points to describe the results of your work.

For example, rather than saying you “managed inventory for large-scale distribution center,” you could say that you “reduced inventory costs by 15% through strategic sourcing and inventory management, resulting in $2 million in annual savings.”

The second bullet point is much more interesting and provides a clear sense of the impact of the candidate’s work.

Identify and Include Relevant Keywords

When you apply for an industrial pharmacist role, your resume will likely be scanned by an applicant tracking system (ATS) for certain keywords. ATS programs rank resumes based on how many of the desired keywords are found on the resume. If your resume lacks the right keywords, your application might not even be seen by a human.

The best way to make sure your resume contains the right keywords is to read through job postings and take note of the terms that are used most frequently. Then, work those relevant words into your resume where it makes sense. Here are some common industrial pharmacist keywords to get you started:

  • Pharmacy
  • Industrial Pharmacy
  • Clinical Pharmacy
  • Pharmaceutics
  • Healthcare
  • Pharmacy Practice
  • Medicine
  • Healthcare Management
  • Healthcare Information Technology (HIT)
  • Hospitals
  • Healthcare Information Management
  • Compounding
  • Advanced Pharmacy Practice
  • Quality Improvement
  • Chemistry
  • Patient Safety
  • Drug Information
  • Inventory Management
  • Medication Therapy Management (MTM)
  • Inpatient Care
  • Dispensing
  • Refill Replenishment
  • Inventory Control
  • Hospital Pharmacy
  • Managed Care
  • Medicare Part D
  • Patient Counseling
  • Certified Sterile Processing
  • Medication Errors
  • Formulary Management

Showcase Your Technical Skills

Industrial pharmacists need to be proficient in a wide range of software programs and systems in order to effectively do their jobs. This might include familiarity with pharmacy management software, prescription processing software, electronic health records (EHR) software, and drug information resources. Additionally, industrial pharmacists need to be able to use technology to communicate with other members of the healthcare team, including doctors and nurses.
