Singapore Airlines Interview Process

The interview process at Singapore Airlines is lengthy, but relatively fast and efficient. It starts with an online application, followed by a video interview. If you are successful in the video interview, you will be invited to attend a face-to-face interview. After the face-to-face interview, you will need to go for a medical checkup. The whole process takes approximately two months.

1. What is your previous experience with customer service?

This question is an opportunity to show the interviewer your experience with customer service and how you can apply it in a new role. Use examples from previous jobs that demonstrate your ability to provide excellent customer service, such as:

Example: “In my last position, I was responsible for answering phone calls and emails from customers who had questions about their flight schedules. When callers or emailers were unsure of what they needed, I would ask them questions to determine exactly what information they were looking for. This helped me ensure that I provided accurate answers to all of their questions and ensured that they felt comfortable with the information I gave them.”

2. Why do you want to work at Singapore Airlines?

This question can help the interviewer determine if you have a genuine interest in working for their company. It’s important to show that you’ve done your research on Singapore Airlines and understand what they do as a business. You should answer this question by explaining why you’re interested in aviation, how you became interested in it or how you learned about Singapore Airlines.

5. Are you willing and able to travel extensively?

This question is a way for the interviewer to assess your willingness and ability to travel. This can be an important part of the job, so it’s important that you are honest about your experience with traveling. If you have little or no experience with extensive travel, you should explain how you would learn to adapt to this role.

Example: “I am willing and able to travel extensively. In my last position as a flight attendant, I was responsible for ensuring passengers were comfortable during their flights. I also assisted in preparing meals and beverages for our customers. While I do enjoy working on planes, I’m excited to work at Singapore Airlines because I’ve heard that they offer some of the best customer service in the industry.”

6. Do you have any experience working on a team?

Example: “I have experience working on teams in my previous positions as a flight attendant and customer service representative. In both of these roles, I had the opportunity to work alongside other employees who were dedicated to providing excellent service to our customers. 7. If hired, what makes you think that you will be successful in this role?

This question is an opportunity for you to show the interviewer that you have what it takes to succeed in this role. You can answer this question by highlighting your relevant experience, skills and abilities.

Example: “I think I will be successful in this role because of my extensive customer service background. Throughout my career, I’ve worked with many different types of customers, which has given me a lot of practice at providing excellent customer service. I also understand how important it is to provide quality customer service while maintaining efficiency. This skill set makes me confident that I can succeed in this role.”

8. When dealing with unhappy customers, how do you remain calm and professional?

This question can help the interviewer determine how you handle challenging situations. Use your answer to showcase your problem-solving skills and ability to remain calm under pressure.

Example: “I always try my best to make sure every customer is happy with their experience, but sometimes it’s out of my control. When I encounter an unhappy customer, I listen carefully to what they have to say and apologize for any inconvenience or disappointment. Then, I ask questions to understand exactly what happened so that I can take steps to ensure this doesn’t happen again. If a situation arises where I cannot resolve the issue, I will offer a refund or alternative solution.”

9. Have you ever been involved in an emergency evacuation?

This question is a behavioral one that an interviewer may ask to learn more about your experience with handling emergency situations. If you have been involved in an evacuation, describe the situation and how you handled it. If you haven’t been involved in an evacuation, you can still answer this question by describing a time when you had to handle a crisis or solve a problem on the job.

Example: “I’ve never been involved in an evacuation, but I do remember hearing about a flight where there was smoke in the cabin. The pilot calmly informed passengers of the situation and asked for volunteers to leave the plane. He then made sure everyone who left the plane was accounted for before taking off again.”

10. Describe a time when you were faced with a difficult situation but still managed to provide excellent customer service.

This question is an opportunity to show your problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure. When answering this question, it can be helpful to describe a situation that was unique or challenging but still resulted in positive outcomes for the customer.

Example: “When I worked as a server at a restaurant, one of my tables had a large party with several children. The family ordered several courses and drinks, so there were many opportunities for mistakes. However, I made sure to check on them frequently and ensure they were happy with their meals. In the end, everyone enjoyed their meal and left me a generous tip.”

11. Do you speak more than one language fluently?

This question is a great way to show your communication skills and how you can work with people from different backgrounds. If you speak more than one language fluently, be sure to mention it in your answer.

Example: “I am fluent in English and Spanish. I learned Spanish in high school and college, and I have been using it as my primary language for the past five years. I also use it at home with my family. My Spanish has helped me communicate with many of my coworkers who are native Spanish speakers.”

12. How would you handle a situation where a passenger did not understand English?

This question can help the interviewer assess your communication skills and ability to work with people from different cultures. Use examples of how you’ve helped customers in the past who did not speak English, or explain what steps you would take to learn a new language if necessary.

Example: “I have worked with international clients before, so I am used to communicating with people who do not speak English. In my previous role as an event planner, I had to translate important information for our foreign guests. I learned that it’s best to provide all important information in both languages, such as through handouts or on-screen presentations. This way, everyone can understand what is expected of them.”

13. Singapore Airlines is known for being innovative. How would you keep up with new technology?

This question is an opportunity to show your knowledge of the airline industry and how you can contribute to its success. You can highlight a time when you used new technology or implemented a change that improved your work environment.

Example: “I am always looking for ways to improve my efficiency at work, so I have been following developments in virtual reality and augmented reality. These technologies could be useful for training employees on safety procedures and customer service. 14. How well do you perform under pressure? Give us an example of a time when you felt stressed.

When answering this question, it can be helpful to provide a specific example of how you overcame the stress and performed well. This shows that you are capable of handling pressure and have experience with overcoming challenges.

Example: “I feel that I perform best when under pressure because it motivates me to work harder and achieve my goals. In my previous position as an assistant manager at a restaurant, there was one night where we were short-staffed and had many customers waiting for their food. I felt some stress but used it to motivate myself to work faster and more efficiently. As a result, we were able to serve all of our customers within 15 minutes.”

15. Can you tell me about a time when you worked with people from other countries?

This question can help the interviewer learn more about your communication skills and how you work with people from different backgrounds. Use examples of how you overcame challenges working with others who spoke a different language or had different cultural norms than you.

Example: “I once worked for an international company that sold products to customers all over the world. I was in charge of managing customer service, so I hired employees from many different countries. We communicated primarily through email, but we also used video conferencing software to talk face-to-face. It took some time to get everyone on the same page, but eventually, we developed a system where everyone understood each other’s accents and could communicate effectively.”

16. Would you say you are a proactive individual? Give us an example of a time when you went out of your way to help someone.

This question is a great way to determine how proactive you are and whether or not you would be able to fit into the company’s culture. When answering this question, it can be helpful to think of an example that shows your ability to take initiative while also showing your interpersonal skills.

Example: “I believe I am a very proactive individual. In my last position as a customer service representative, I noticed one of our customers was having trouble with their flight. They were worried about missing their connecting flight because they had to wait for their luggage to arrive. I offered to call the baggage claim department to see if we could get their bags sooner so they wouldn’t miss their flight.”

17. As a member of the cabin crew, you would be responsible for demonstrating safety procedures during the flight. How comfortable are you with public speaking?

This question is designed to assess your public speaking skills and how you would interact with passengers during the flight. It also helps employers understand if you are comfortable in a leadership role, which can be important for some positions on this airline.

Example: “I have experience giving presentations at my previous job, so I am quite comfortable with public speaking. 18. If two passengers are fighting over who gets the last seat, how would you handle it?

This question is designed to test your conflict resolution skills. It’s important that you remain calm and use your problem-solving abilities to find a solution that satisfies both passengers.

Example: “I would first ask the two passengers what their issue was, then I’d try to resolve it by offering them other seats on the plane. If they still refused, I would call for security to remove one of the passengers from the flight.”

19. We encourage our employees to show initiative and take responsibility. Provide an example of a time when you took action without being asked.

This question can help the interviewer understand how you approach your work and whether you’re likely to fit in with their company culture.

Example: “When I was working as a flight attendant, one of my passengers had an allergic reaction to something they ate on board. They were having trouble breathing and asked for medical assistance. I immediately notified the pilot, who contacted the control tower. The doctor onboard administered emergency treatment while we landed at our next stop so that the passenger could get off the plane and receive further care.”

20. Do you have a valid passport?

This question is a basic background check to ensure you are eligible for the position. If you do not have a valid passport, it’s important to explain why and what steps you’re taking to get one.

Example: “Yes, I am currently in possession of a U.S. passport that expires in two years. I plan on renewing my passport before starting this position.”
