How to Write a CTE Teacher Resume

Here’s how to write a resume of your own.

Write Compelling Bullet Points

Bullet points are the most important part of your resume because they’re the only thing hiring managers will read. So it’s crucial that you use them to your advantage by highlighting your most impressive accomplishments.

For example, rather than saying you “taught high school chemistry,” you could say you “taught high school chemistry to a diverse population of students, achieving a 10% increase in test scores over the course of one year.”

The second bullet point is much stronger because it provides specific details about what you did and the results of your work.

Identify and Include Relevant Keywords

When you apply for a CTE teacher role, your resume is likely to be scanned by an applicant tracking system (ATS) for certain keywords. This program looks for specific terms related to the job, like “vocational training” or “workforce development” in order to determine whether your experience is a match for the job opening. If your resume doesn’t include enough of the right keywords, the ATS might discard your application before a recruiter ever sees it.
